Surat: 42-year-old auto driver Akhtar Raza Muniyar repeatedly molests 11-year-old girl while dropping her to and from school, blames porn for it when arrested

In Surat, a minor girl was repeatedly sexually molested by an auto-rickshaw driver identified as Akhtar Raza Muniyar. The 11-year-old victim used to go to school in his autorickshaw and the driver used to molest her during the transit. The entire episode was exposed when a woman spotted this and conveyed it to the victim’s family through another student. The girl’s family then lodged a complaint with the Police against the accused. Meanwhile, Akhtar Raza Muniyar blamed porn videos for this crime during police interrogation after he was arrested.

Akhtar Raza Muniyar, a 42-year-old resident of Sagarampura in Surat, drives an autorickshaw in a private school. It is revealed that for a long time, he was physically assaulting an 11-year-old girl who came to school in his rickshaw. He used to stop the rickshaw at a place and used to molest the girl.

The accused, identified as Akhtar Raza Muniyar (42), was caught on camera by a woman who witnessed the crime and alerted the girl’s mother.

The incident took place in the Sagrampura area of Surat, where the accused lives. He was hired by the girl’s parents to drop their daughter to school and bring her back home. However, he used to stop the rickshaw for 8-10 minutes near his residence and molest the girl, threatening to burn her if she told anyone.

In this harrowing incident, the bravery of a woman and the solidarity within a community played a crucial role in uncovering the truth. This woman, upon witnessing this molestation, took the significant step of documenting the act through a video. Understanding the gravity of what she had witnessed, she sought the assistance of a student who resided in the same building as the victim, in their shared society. Together, they ensured that the evidence reached the victim's mother, a step that would become pivotal in unveiling the distressing series of events.

Upon receiving the video, the mother faced the daunting task of approaching her daughter about the sensitive subject. With a gentle and reassuring approach, she encouraged her daughter to share her experiences. It was then that the young girl revealed the extent of her ordeal. The girl confided in her family, detailing the repeated molestation she had been subjected to.

The most shocking aspect of her revelation was the threat made by the accused, Akhtar Raza Muniyar. He had menacingly threatened to burn the girl alive if she ever spoke about the abuse. This horrifying threat had kept the girl in a state of fear, preventing her from speaking out about her suffering. The mother's patient and understanding approach allowed the girl to finally break her silence and share the terrifying experiences she had endured at the hands of Akhtar.

This incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and the courage to act upon witnessing wrongdoing. The woman's quick thinking to record the crime and the collaborative effort to inform the girl's mother brought to light a grievous assault, providing the first step towards seeking justice for the young victim.

According to the information, the accused used to stop the rickshaw near Sagarampura and used to molest the girl.

Accused arrested under POCSO

Later, after the girl’s mother filed a complaint, the Athwa police registered and arrested Akhtar Raza Muniyar (42) (residence, Maulvi Street, Sagarampura) in sections related to rape, POCSO, and threatening. The accused is married but has no children. The police suspect who accused Akhtar may have lured other students into his trap.

The police arrested the accused and booked him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Information Technology (IT) Act. The police also seized his phone and sent it to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis. The accused confessed to the police that he used to watch porn videos on his phone and then act on his impulses with the girl. He also admitted that he had molested another girl in the past.

‘I used to get excited after watching porn’, says accused Akhtar

It is worth mentioning that as soon as the case was registered, the police arrested the accused Akhtar. He has confessed to the crime before the police. He told the police that he was used to watching porn videos and used to get excited after watching these videos. He said that after getting excited, he used to molest the girl. Police suspect that Akhtar might have committed similar crimes against other girls as well. At present, the police have sent his phone to Forensic Science Lab and are investigating the incident.

The police suspect that the accused may have targeted more children and are investigating the matter. They have appealed to the parents of the children who travel by auto rickshaws or private vans to be vigilant and ensure their safety. They have also asked the public to report any such incidents to the police or the child helpline number 1098.
