Movie buffs had declared even before the release of the film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ that it will fall flat at the box office. The fate of the film has always been hanging by a thread. Aamir Khan, whose name was enough to attract cinemagoers to theatres, was forced to beg the audience to watch his film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’. But his apologies too didn’t work. Consequently, the movie has turned out to be one of the biggest flops of his career as it failed to cross even the ₹ 50 crore mark after four days of its release. Shockingly, the film is not only a box office disaster but an OTT disaster too.

LSC and Netflix call off the deal

While this film, made under the direction of Advait Chandan, has already resulted in a disaster at the box office, Aamir Khan has suffered another major setback. In what can be seen as an addition of fuel to the fire, the reports are suggesting that the remake of the Hollywood film ‘Forrest Gump’ is not getting platforms for release on OTT.

You see, the film has done a business of only Rs 51.60 crores in 9 days at the box office. Thus, Aamir Khan was forced to sell his film to OTT platforms. The deal, for the same, was going on with Netflix for the release of ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ but unfortunately, the deal didn’t go through.

Why did the deal collapse?

According to a report by news daily ‘Bollywood Hungama’, Aamir Khan had begun negotiations for the digital rights of Laal Singh Chaddha at a high amount. The conversation was brewing between Laal Singh Chaddha and streaming platform Netflix and had reached to an advanced level. However, the deal was later called off as Aamir wanted a huge amount of Rs 150 crore to sell the digital rights of his film.

The report quoted a source saying, “Aamir Khan was very excited to release the film on Netflix as it is a global platform and has over 200 million subscribers”.

Moreover, Aamir was also adamant that the Laal Singh Chaddha would release on Netflix a whole six months after its theatrical release. Netflix, meanwhile, tried its best to crack the deal and was ready to offer a figure of around 80 to 90 crores. But the actor denied the conditions since he was also looking to release the film in China.

Simply put, the disastrous performance of the film is the reason why Netflix is not interested in bagging the rights. Also, no other OTT platform would want a disaster called Laal Singh Chaddha on its platform. Viacom 18 Studios and Aamir Khan Productions are also in talks in a hush manner to release the movie on Voot as a formality. Thus, it can be asserted that not only Netflix but the whole OTT market has canceled Aamir Khan.

Problems for Aamir Khan do not seem to end any time soon

The problems for Aamir Khan do not seem to end any time soon. His recently released ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is a colossal disaster. The fans who made him the star he is today have now begun boycotting him. Netflix also canceled Aamir Khan. Now, his upcoming project titled Moghul which was based on Gulshan Kumar’s life has also been shelved.

Gulshan Kumar’s biopic shelved for now

Aamir Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha met with a poor response from the audience. After the release, he was supposed to move on to his next which is Gulshan Kumar’s biopic Mogul. Given the audience’s response to the latest release and controversies around Aamir, the film has been put on the back burner.

According to the latest reports, the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha is the primary reason behind Mogul being shelved. While the makers of Mogul have decided to postpone it for an indefinite period, it is yet to be announced whether Mogul is shelved or their deal with Aamir is still on.

A report quoted an anonymous as saying, “The makers of Mogul are reconsidering their decision and might shelve it completely. This has come days after Aamir’s highly-anticipated film Laal Singh Chaddha was released. Unfortunately, despite being a near-perfect adaptation of Forrest Gump, it failed to click at the box office. The poor box office response reportedly forced the makers of Mogul to shelve it indefinitely.”

Aamir Khan – a miscasting

Gulshan Kumar Dua was the son of a street vendor who sold fruit juice on the streets of Darya Ganj, in Delhi. Gulshan Kumar achieved success with his dedication. From the streets of Delhi, he became the Cassette King. He founded “T-Series” on 11th July 1983, in which T stood for “Trishul”, augmenting his mission of reviving Hinduism & the spirit of the Bhakti aspect in the Bollywood music industry.

His perspective on life and music did not go very well with the Bollywood underworld, which believed that he was an obstacle to their larger anti-Hindu propaganda and thus, started harassing him in all possible ways.

After all this, isn’t it tragic that we only have someone like Aamir Khan to do a biopic on the late religious music baron Gulshan Kumar? Amir Khan’s anti-Hindu agenda is well known in Bollywood with movies like PK, through which he has attacked the Hindu faith time and again.

These actors should be considered

Now that the film is believed to be shelved and the speculations that Aamir Khan is the reason for the same, it is time for the makers to rethink about replacing Aamir with an actor who is better than the so-called Mr. Perfectionist. Here are our 5 recommendations that we believe will justify the iconic character of Bhushan Kumar.

  • Paresh Rawal:  Paresh Rawal is the most underrated actor in Bollywood. The acting prowess of Mr. Rawal is enough to explain what a great and versatile actor he is. There has been hardly any time when his portrayal of the characters in the film has been criticized. He is regarded as one of the finest character actors of present times. Paresh Rawal has never gone wrong with any role, be it comic, negative, or drama. Be it Uncle Mambo in Garam Masala or Leela in Malamal Weekly or Radhesham Tiwari in Hungama or Teja in Andaaz Apna Apna, his performances have always been unbeatable. Babu Rao Ganpat Rao Apte in Hera Pheri is still one of the most loved characters and all because of the acting skills of Paresh Rawal.
  • Pankaj Kapoor: The actor's acting skills speak for themselves. A powerhouse of talent, Pankaj is widely respected for his commitment to good Indian cinema. The Indian Express, while praising Pankaj for his talent, wrote, “He’s the actor’s actor, Bollywood’s Brando who can dazzle you with his understated menace (Maqbool), dead-face humor (Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Office Office, the TV show) or drunken buffoonery (Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola).”
  • Kumud Mishra: If you have seen the films such as RockstarFilmistaanSultanMS Dhoni: The Untold StoryTiger Zinda Hai, Article 15, and Thappad, you must have come across one of the most commercial actors in Bollywood. He is Kumud Mishra. the roles he has played in the last few years are memorable and of incredible range. There have been hardly any characters played by him that are not convincing.
  • Manoj Pahwa: He started his acting career on television. From acting in iconic television shows like Hum Log to being part of big-budget films, Manoj Pahwa has seen it all. He has been typecast as the ‘father of the bride’ or the ‘jolly boss’, but his acting skills are way beyond these films. Watch all his films and you’ll realize what a phenomenal actor he is.
  • Raghubir Yadav: Raghubir Yadav has been a part of the acting business for 37 years. During these years, he has been a part of dozens of critically acclaimed films like Salaam BombayMaya MemsaabSuraj Ka Satvan Ghoda, Bandit QueenSardar, Khamoshi, Dil SeLagaanFiraaq, Peepli Live, and Gandhi To Hitler and Newton. Moreover, both Salaam Bombay and Lagaan hold an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film in 1989 and 2002 respectively. However, it was only after the release of the series ‘Panchayat’ on Amazon Prime that he was recognized by the audience and people started loving him as an actor. He is an ardent theatre performer which reflects in his characters.

Aamir Khan is not the right person who should have been even approached for the biopic of Gulshan Kumar. He never was. However, the makers now have an opportunity to correct their mistakes and for this, someone who completely justifies the role of Gulshan Kumar should be roped in for the movie.

What goes around comes around

Karma comes back and makes everyone pay for their sins. Something of the same sort is happening with ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ of Bollywood; Aamir Khan. Well just before the release of Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha netizens started calling for its boycott and #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha was trending on the micro-blogging site Twitter. The reason for the boycott lies in Khan’s anti-India remarks and now Khan is busy whitewashing those sins through patriotism.

Well, indeed Aamir Khan loves India and he is a great patriot, so even the freedom fighters would be embarrassed after seeing his patriotism of Khan. And we can take 5 incidents to prove the patriotism of Aamir Khan.

  1. Narmada Bachao Andolan

The story begins with Narmada Bachao Andolan, in this protest Aamir Khan was hand in glove with the Champagne activist Medha Patkar. Congress, Medha Patkar, and the likes of Aamir Khan are guilty of keeping Gujarat thirsty for decades, as they deliberately held the project which was set to benefit crores of farmers as it would bring water for irrigation. Aamir Khan showed such patriotism that even he had to compromise Fanaa for the same.

  1. Aamir Khan, a part of an anti-Modi brigade

To add to this, Aamir Khan is also a part of the anti-Modi brigade who chose to criticize the then Gujarat CM running for the parliamentary elections for the heck of it and his Modi hate goes back a long way. In 2005, Khan carried out a campaign to deny PM Modi a US visa. He signed a public petition that hauled up the then PM Manmohan Singh for criticizing the US visa ban imposed on then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi. Aamir Khan’s interview with Shekhar Gupta in the show Walk the Talk is prime evidence of Aamir Khan’s hate for PM Modi.

  1. Aamir Khan’s intolerance

Then comes up Aamir Khan’s intolerance remarks that have now become a reason for a boycott of his recent release Laal Singh Chaddha. In 2015, Khan called the country intolerant as he became a part of the Award wapsi gang. While speaking at the Ramnath Goenka Awards function, Khan said that he was “alarmed” at the state of affairs as far as tolerance is concerned. Well, Aamir Khan’s words for him, koi bhi desh perfect nahi hota?  However, it needs a lot of effort for making a country better and the BJP government is doing so.

  1. Ex-wife Kiran Rao finds India unsafe

While Aamir was busy carving out his place in the awardwapsi gang, his wife Kiran Rao too toed the same line. After earning their name, fame, and money in India, Kiran Rao was suddenly too scared to open newspapers in the morning, she started fearing for her children. Busy in portraying the maligned image of India, Rao suggested that she thinks of moving out of India.

  1. Aamir Khan and his anti-India friends

At the time when Turkey was increasingly acting anti-India and was interfering in the internal matters of India, the Bollywood actor visited Turkey to meet Emine Erdogan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s wife. After the visit, Khan had drawn the ire of Indians from all quarters.

We have listed 5 instances when Aamir Khan explicitly took anti-India stands, and this proves he is no patriot and he is just wearing the cloak of nationalism to save his movie from tanking at the box office.

Well, to your knowledge, Khan is not just anti-India, but he is also a Hindu hater, while his hate for Hindus and Sanatan Dharma was quite visible in the film PK, other movies prove the same. While Khan is lauded for a show based on social issues, like Satyamev Jayate, people miss that in all its seasons, Khan didn’t raise even a single anti-Muslim issue. The show had many episodes that talked about dowry, rape, and corruption, but missed the issues like Halala and Triple Talaq. To add to that, Khan is guilty of funding organizations like ‘ipsmg.org’ which spew venom against the Hindu community day and night. It’s high time that the people of India close the shops of such ‘actors’.
