"अम्न-ए-आलम": Devotees returning from a Hanuman Chalisa recital in Bihar’s Jamui brutally attacked by Islamists with stone pelting in police presence, injuring many, including Nitish Sahu and Khushbu Pandey; eight arrested, internet suspended

A shocking incident of violence unfolded in Bihar’s Jamui district, specifically in the Jhajha police station area, where Islamists launched a brutal attack on devotees returning from a Hanuman Chalisa recital at the Hanuman Temple in Baliyadih village. The attack involved relentless stone pelting, leaving half a dozen people injured and causing severe damage to multiple vehicles. The scale of the assault has left the entire region in distress, raising serious concerns about the law and order situation in the area.

Among those severely injured in the attack was Jamui Municipal Council Vice President and Chamber of Commerce President, Nitish Sahu, who was brutally assaulted and suffered grave injuries. His condition remains critical, and he has been admitted to Sadar Hospital for urgent medical treatment. Another victim of the violence was Khushbu Pandey, widely known as "Hindu Sherni" (Hindu Lioness), who also sustained injuries during the attack. The targeted violence against these individuals has sparked outrage among the local community, with demands for strict action against the perpetrators.
In response to the escalating violence, law enforcement agencies and administrative officers were deployed in the village to prevent any further deterioration of the situation. According to reports, the attack took place on Sunday evening when members of the Hindu Swabhiman Morcha were peacefully returning from the Hanuman Chalisa recital. Without any provocation, Islamists suddenly ambushed the group with a barrage of stones, causing injuries and widespread panic. As some devotees protested the attack, the situation took a more violent turn when a particular community reportedly intensified the stone pelting, making the assault even more aggressive and premeditated.
Eyewitness accounts confirm that the attackers were armed with sticks and batons and deliberately targeted the vehicles of the Hindu Swabhiman Morcha convoy. The assailants shattered windshields and damaged multiple vehicles in what appeared to be a planned and coordinated attack. The targeted nature of the violence has fueled suspicions of deeper communal tensions, leaving residents in fear of further clashes.

Stone Pelting Occurred in Police Presence
What has left many even more outraged is the sheer audacity of the attack, which took place in the presence of Jhajha police. Despite law enforcement officials being nearby, the attackers brazenly carried out their assault, showing no fear of repercussions. During this disturbing episode of lawlessness, Jamui Municipal Council Vice President Nitish Sahu was mercilessly beaten, adding to the gravity of the incident. Several vehicles belonging to the Hindu Swabhiman Morcha were left in ruins, with broken glass and debris scattered across the roads.
It is deeply concerning that the convoy was passing through Jhajha police station area when the attack occurred, yet no immediate intervention was seen to prevent the violence. The inaction of the police raises serious questions about the security arrangements and whether there was a deliberate lack of response from the authorities.
This incident has now ignited widespread anger, with many questioning how such brazen attacks on peaceful devotees can take place in full view of law enforcement. The attack on religious processions and gatherings has been a growing concern, and this event in Jamui has once again highlighted the urgent need for strict measures to ensure the safety of devotees and citizens alike. The demand for justice has grown louder, with calls for immediate action against the perpetrators and those responsible for failing to prevent the violence.

District Officials Review Situation, Eight Arrested; Internet Services Suspended to Maintain Order
In response to the escalating tensions in Jhajha police station area, senior district officials took immediate action late into the night. District Magistrate Abhilasha Sharma and Superintendent of Police Madan Kumar Anand personally visited the affected area to evaluate the situation and ensure that further violence was prevented. Their presence came after the shocking stone-pelting attack that left multiple devotees injured and caused severe damage to vehicles.
Following the incident, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the attack. Additionally, the district administration has taken the decision to suspend internet services across the region. The measure has been implemented to prevent the spread of rumors and to maintain communal harmony, ensuring that misinformation does not further fuel tensions in the already disturbed area.
As per Jhajha SDPO Rajesh Kumar, the situation in the village is now under control, with a heavy police and administrative presence deployed to prevent any further violence. He confirmed that eight individuals have been arrested for their involvement in the attack and stone pelting. Furthermore, in an effort to stabilize the situation, authorities have deployed additional police forces across the district. Senior officials have been stationed in the village to oversee peacekeeping efforts, ensuring that no further unrest occurs.

Attack on Hindu Swabhiman Morcha’s Women Leader
More disturbing details about the attack have emerged, further shedding light on the extent of the planned violence against the devotees. Deputy Chief Councillor Nitish Kumar, who was injured in the attack, provided firsthand details about the brutal assault. He revealed that the Hindu Swabhiman organization had organized a Hanuman Chalisa recital in Baliyadih village as a peaceful religious gathering. Notably, the event had been officially communicated to senior police officials in advance, ensuring that law enforcement was aware of the gathering.
Despite these security measures, the recital was disrupted by hundreds of anti-social elements from Muslim community, who deliberately created disturbances. The situation quickly spiraled out of control when these attackers launched an aggressive assault using bricks and stones. The violence led to severe damage to Nitish Kumar’s car, which was completely wrecked in the attack.
More shockingly, the attackers specifically targeted Khushbu Kumari, the women’s convenor of the Hindu Swabhiman Morcha. As per Nitish Kumar’s statement, Muslims surrounded her vehicle and launched a relentless stone-pelting attack, trapping her in a highly vulnerable situation. He further alleged that the attackers went as far as taking the female leader hostage, further deepening the gravity of the situation.
Another alarming revelation made by Nitish Kumar was that Jhajha police station’s Additional Inspector Nandan Rai was responsible for the security arrangements during the Hanuman Chalisa recital. However, despite the police’s presence at the scene, the attackers overpowered the security forces with relentless stone pelting. The police were reportedly forced to flee from the spot in an attempt to save their own lives, leaving the devotees to fend for themselves against the violent mob.

Additional Police Force Deployed for Peacekeeping
Following the violent attack on devotees returning from the Hanuman Chalisa recital, the district administration has intensified security measures in the affected area. In an effort to restore peace and prevent further incidents, authorities have deployed additional police forces across the village. Senior administrative officials are also camping in the region, closely monitoring the evolving situation and ensuring that no further clashes occur.
As per Jhajha SDPO Rajesh Kumar, the violent outbreak stemmed from an earlier dispute between two groups, which eventually escalated into a full-fledged attack. The sequence of events suggests that tensions had been simmering, and the Hanuman Chalisa recital provided an opportunity for Muslims to execute a well-planned assault on the returning devotees.
Authorities have assured the public that the situation is now under control and that there will be no further disruptions. However, locals remain apprehensive as victims of the attack continue to recover from their injuries, and damage to their vehicles and property remains a stark reminder of the chaos that unfolded.
Meanwhile, police investigations are actively underway. Officials are working to identify all individuals responsible for orchestrating the violence and have promised that strict action will be taken against those found guilty. Given the highly volatile nature of the incident, security forces remain on high alert, ensuring that law and order is maintained while investigations progress.
The district administration’s response has drawn mixed reactions, with many questioning why law enforcement failed to prevent the attack in the first place, despite having prior knowledge of the event. While officials claim that order has been restored, the aftermath of the attack has left the local Hindu community in shock, demanding justice and accountability.
As the investigation unfolds, the residents of Jamui anxiously await concrete action against the perpetrators and measures to ensure that such incidents do not repeat in the future. The failure of police intervention during the attack remains a critical issue, with many urging the authorities to address security lapses and take decisive steps to prevent further targeted violence.
