Bengaluru: Nayeem, Arafat, and Sahil Among Five Arrested for Brandishing Swords in Public

Bengaluru, a city known for its thriving tech industry and vibrant nightlife, witnessed a shocking incident that left residents and authorities alarmed. Five young men—identified as Nayeem, Arafat, Sahil, Nanjamat, and Adnan—were arrested by the Bengaluru police for brandishing swords in broad daylight while recklessly performing stunts on motorcycles. The act, which was recorded by a fellow rider, quickly went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism from the public and prompting swift police action.

According to officials, the incident occurred in the DJ Halli and Ramamurthy Nagar areas, where the accused individuals were seen parading with swords, seemingly unbothered by the potential consequences of their actions. The video, which spread like wildfire across various platforms, showed them performing stunts while wielding the dangerous weapons, an act that not only endangered their own lives but also put innocent commuters at serious risk.

Authorities wasted no time in taking action. The Bengaluru City Police swiftly launched an operation to track down the individuals involved and detained them. A case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, ensuring that the matter is treated with the seriousness it deserves. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing, as officials seek to determine whether the accused had any prior history of such reckless behavior.

Political Uproar: BJP Slams Karnataka Government

The incident has ignited a fresh political debate, with the opposition BJP seizing the moment to criticize the Congress-led Karnataka government. The party took direct aim at the state's Home Minister, Dr. G Parameshwara, questioning the administration’s ability to maintain law and order.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the BJP sarcastically inquired, "Dear Accidental Home Minister @DrParameshwara, what's the excuse this time? Will you call them mentally unstable? Or was it just an accident that they brandished swords and filmed it?" The pointed remarks reflect the opposition’s growing dissatisfaction with the government's handling of rising criminal incidents in the state.

The BJP didn’t stop there. The party also took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, mocking his "Mohabbat ki Dukan" (Shop of Love) campaign. "A special thanks to Balak Buddhi @RahulGandhi for gifting us this ‘Mohabbat ki Dukan’—where appeasement is the only thing in stock! We will not stay silent if this continues!" read the scathing post from the party’s official handle.

Further intensifying its attack, the Karnataka BJP unit shared the viral video of the accused men brandishing swords, using the footage to lambast the ruling Siddaramaiah-led Congress government. In a mocking post, the BJP stated, "Calling all midnight photography enthusiasts & archaeologists! Come, capture the majestic sword displays on Bengaluru’s streets by 'misguided youths'! Meanwhile, archaeologists, dig deep—maybe, just maybe, you'll unearth some traces of law & order in Karnataka!" The sarcastic remark was a clear jab at what the party perceives as the deteriorating law and order situation under the current regime.

Social Media Frenzy and Public Reaction

The video of the sword-wielding stunt performers has triggered widespread outrage, with netizens expressing concern over the increasing boldness of such acts. Many social media users have questioned how such individuals muster the confidence to brandish weapons so openly, while others have called for stricter policing and swift punishment to deter similar incidents in the future.

According to police sources, the accused were reportedly filming social media reels, seemingly in pursuit of online fame. This disturbing trend of endangering public safety for the sake of viral content has become an increasing concern for law enforcement agencies across the country.

Another Shock: Traffic Police Officer Threatened

Even as Bengaluru reeled from the sword-brandishing incident, another shocking video surfaced, showing a traffic police officer being verbally abused and threatened by a car driver in the middle of a traffic jam. The video, now widely circulated, has further fueled debates about law enforcement challenges in the city.

With both incidents coming to light in quick succession, Bengaluru residents are left questioning the state of law and order in Karnataka. The swift response from the police in arresting the accused individuals has been praised, but whether this will serve as a deterrent for others remains to be seen.

The investigation continues, and authorities assure that strict action will be taken against those involved.
