"In the heart's silent cries, the loudest stories are told": Police arrest guardian turned predator Premoday Khakha, Deputy Director of Delhi govt’s women & child development dept, accused of abusing a minor, revealing a haunting tale in Delhi's corridors
The heart of the national capital was rocked by a heinous crime that surfaced recently. Premoday Khakha, who held a position of trust and responsibility as the Deputy Director of Delhi’s Women and Child Development Department, was apprehended by the Delhi Police on accusations most vile. The charges? Sexual assault of a minor.

The narrative provided by the victim evokes emotions of sorrow and betrayal. In her statement, she recounted the innocent times when she, along with her family, would visit their local church. To their misfortune, it was in this sacred space that they became acquainted with Khakha, who also frequented the church with his family. Drawn together by the commonality of their state of origin, a seemingly innocuous friendship blossomed between the two families. Little did the victim's family know, their trust would be catastrophically breached.
On the fateful Monday when the accusations came to light, swift action was taken. The Delhi Police did not waste any time in detaining Khakha, ensuring that he was brought in for questioning. The weight of the situation was palpable in the words of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Sagar Singh Khalsi, when he confirmed to ANI, "We have detained the accused and have commenced a rigorous line of questioning."
Subsequent revelations pointed to the depths of Khakha's depravity. The case found its footing in the Burari Police Station of North District. And as details emerged, it was apparent that this was not a singular, isolated incident. The senior government official, entrusted with the welfare of women and children, was alleged to have assaulted his now-deceased friend's young daughter over an extended period, leading to her conceiving a child.
Delhi's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal took cognizance of the issue. Displaying a no-nonsense approach to the grave situation, he not only sanctioned the suspension of the implicated official but also demanded a full-fledged report from his Chief Secretary, setting a tight deadline of 5 pm on the same day.

The chilling incident has now cast a shadow over Delhi's bureaucratic circles. While the case unfolds and the truth seeks its day in the court, the city remains aghast at the audacity of such a crime being allegedly committed by someone from its echelons of power. It's a grim reminder of the lurking dangers in the most unexpected of places.
Peeling back the layers of this harrowing case provides an insight into a sinister tale of power, manipulation, and betrayal. The Deputy Director of Delhi’s Women and Child Development, Premoday Khakha, stationed at the very heart of an organization designed to shield and nurture, now stands accused of the very antithesis of his role. The allegations? The haunting predatory behavior toward a minor in a place where safety should be paramount - the Church.
The intricate web of this grim narrative began unraveling on the 11th of August. This was when Delhi Police, in a significant operation, took into custody Khakha, having him answer for the grievous charges of assault on a young girl. The initial light that pierced through this dark tale was unintentional. The young victim, after undergoing an overwhelming anxiety attack, sought medical attention at the esteemed St Stephen’s Hospital. It was amidst the sterile white walls and empathetic professionals that she mustered the courage to unveil the nightmare she had been subjected to, stating that Khakha had preyed on her repeatedly.
Swiftly recognizing the gravity of the revelations, St Stephen's Hospital wasted no time in notifying the authorities. Burari Police Station took charge, initiating the legal procedures and registering an FIR. As the case began its legal journey, the traumas endured by the victim meant she wasn't yet in a position to record her statement before a Magistrate as per Section 154. Despite this, the machinery of justice pressed forward. The police diligently questioned Khakha, leading to the filing of charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), encompassing Sections 376(2), 506, 509, 323, 313, 120B, and 34, in addition to the stringent POCSO Act.
The tale takes an even darker turn, introducing a new dimension of betrayal. The young victim's FIR didn't singularly point fingers at Khakha. Astonishingly, she also implicated the deputy director's wife, suggesting a deeply disturbing conspiracy. Police records detailed the victim's background. Born to educators - principals in government schools, she was a student of class 12th in a school nestled in the civil lines area. Her statement painted a picture of seemingly innocent times, reminiscing about frequent visits to the Church alongside her family. It was these very visits that paved the way for the unsuspecting bond with Khakha and his family, all grounded on the shared connection of their state of origin.

As the pieces of this chilling puzzle come together, the city watches with bated breath, hoping for justice and a resolution to the darkness that has clouded its reputation.
In the shadow of a grim event on 1st October 2020, the young girl lost her anchor, her father. This tragic incident left a void in her heart, plunging her into an abyss of distress and vulnerability. Sensing her delicate state, the deputy director, under the pretense of care and support, welcomed her into his household.
It was within these walls, supposed to be a sanctuary for her, that the unimaginable occurred. Over the span of several chilling months from November 2020 to January 2021, she found herself trapped in a cycle of trauma, being raped by the very man who promised protection.

A dark twist was added when, after discovering her resultant pregnancy, the deputy director's wife, rather than offering solace or help, coldly demanded her silence. Acting in tandem with this sinister plot, their son procured abortion medicine from a local pharmacy, handing it to the unsuspecting victim.
Delving into the identity of Premoday Khakha raises more alarming questions. Serving as a deputy director in a department meant to uplift and protect women and children, how could such heinous acts transpire under his watch? The layers of allegations against him range from manipulation and rape to the grim orchestration of an abortion without the victim's informed consent.
His duplicitous nature becomes evident as, on one hand, he held a position of respect and authority, and on the other, hid behind a façade, preying on the vulnerable. The community, the system, and most importantly, the victim, now seek justice against such flagrant abuse of power.
