Decomposed body of Hindu girl recovered; “lover” Md Yameen Ahmed confessed slitting her throat, arrested

While the discussions and outrage surrounding 17-year-old Ankita’s brutal killing by Islamist molester Shahrukh Hossain has not even subsided, another heart-rendering story of grooming jihad has surfaced from Uttarakhand’s Nainital.

After a 24-days-long investigation, the Nainital police have solved the mystery of Anjali Arya’s disappearance. The police have also arrested her “lover” Mohammad Yameen Ahmed. The accused had killed Anjali by slitting her throat because she was asking him to marry her after their courtship.

18-year-old Anjali was a resident of Khadakpur village in Motahaldu, which falls under the jurisdiction of Lalkuan police station in Nainital. Anjali wanted to get admission to Kichha's degree college. For this, she left her house on August 3, but since then she did not return home. Anjali's family members had lodged a missing complaint with the Lalkuan police station.

Though her family searched for her extensively, they couldn’t trace her. Soon, the family discovered that Anjali had also taken some jewelry with her. When Anjali was not found, they immediately filed a missing person’s report at the local police station.

The police took the help of surveillance, then for the last time, it was found on the mobile phone that she was talking to Yameen Ahmed, a resident of village Bara. The police started scanning the call detail record of Anjali’s mobile number and noticed that Anjali had frequently contacted one number. The police soon discovered that the number Anjali had been calling belonged to Yameen Ahmed, hailing from Bara village.

Ahmed, who worked as a pick-up driver, was detained by the police. During the interrogation, he broke down and confessed that he was in a relationship with Anjali. He also admitted he had killed her by slitting her throat. The police also recovered Anjali’s decomposed body from the dense forest located a little distance from the forest department post on Shaktifarm Road. It has been 24 days since Anjali’s murder; the body had decomposed to a great extent. Insects had also eaten it; only a skeleton was left in it. Police have also seized the knife used to kill Anjali and her purse.

During interrogation, Ahmed told the police that he and Anjali had met on social media. They used to frequently chat online, which led to the closeness between them. Some reports also suggest that Ahmed had initiated the relationship by giving missed calls to Anjali’s number and the girl eventually fell into his trap.

Their intimacy increased as they talked on the phone for prolonged hours and then started meeting in person.

Yameen was in Bahedi at that time. On receiving Anjali's call, Yameen came to her brother's bike. He also brought along his pickup helper Sachin Saxena, a resident of Bara. It is alleged that after meeting in Kichha, Anjali started pressurizing Yameen to get married.

Anjali wanted to take this “love affair” towards marriage and asked Ahmed to marry her. Though initially, Ahmed avoided this topic, he later hatched the conspiracy to get rid of her by killing her. Then Yameen made up her mind to hide Anjali.

Taking both Anjali and Sachin on a bike, he took them to the forest ahead of the Forest Department post on Shaktifarm Road. There he killed Anjali by slitting her throat. After this Anjali's purse was thrown away from the spot in the forest itself. The police also recovered the knife used in the murder along with Anjali's purse on the behest of Yameen. Nainital police took Yameen along with his helper Sachin to Lalkuan.

Seeing Anjali's dead body, the family started crying bitterly. The sad father could not understand how his daughter got acquainted with Yameen. Anjali's father works in a gas plant in Halduchur. Apart from the mother in Anjali's house, there is also a younger brother and a younger sister.

Friendship with strangers over social media has become a common phenomenon, and Islamists are using it as a tool to trap young Hindu girls. Unfortunately, Hindu parents have primarily failed at awakening their children to the dangers of Islamists lurking around them all the time. They seldom discuss the multiple cases of love jihad had has claimed the lives of numerous Hindu girls in the country.

To appear modern and secular, Hindu parents avoid warning their daughters of an approaching Islamist predator in the garb of a friend or lover. This is what is leading to the frequent cases of brutal killings of young Hindu girls.
