Abid molested a Kashmiri student at Jamia Millia Islamia, journalist was forced to delete the report, exposing how ‘Muslim victimhood’ is used to divert from Pahalgam terror attack where 26 Hindus were killed after religious profiling

Preliminary investigation revealed that the incident was not related to the Pahalgam terror attack, although such insinuations were made when the video first went viral and the name of the molester was unknown.

Abid Molests Kashmiri Student at Jamia Millia Islamia, Journalist Told to Delete Story: How ‘Muslim Victimhood’ is Being Used to Divert from Pahalgam Terror Attack

Following the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack, where four Islamic terrorists unleashed terror on April 22, killing 26 innocent civilians—mostly Hindus—there has been a sharp rise in reports portraying Muslims and Kashmiris as victims across India.

The attack itself was horrifying in nature. As confirmed by the grieving families of the victims, the terrorists subjected the travelers to religious profiling. Once it was determined that they were Hindus, they were selectively killed in cold blood. This chilling revelation should have been the focus of public outrage. Instead, a noticeable pattern has emerged where the narrative is being carefully shifted to highlight supposed Muslim victimhood.

After the Pahalgam tragedy, many isolated incidents—some even suspected to be fake—have been spotlighted to claim that ‘innocent’ Muslims and Kashmiris are now being attacked in retaliation by Hindus. A glaring example of this manufactured victimhood narrative recently surfaced at Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi.

According to available reports, a female student from Jammu & Kashmir was allegedly assaulted outside Gate Number 8 of the Jamia campus on Sunday, 27th April. The story was initially covered by journalist Ubair ul Hameed. However, to everyone’s shock, he was pressured into deleting the story by other Kashmiri students studying at Jamia Millia Islamia.

At that point, the identity of the molester was still unknown to the public. The assumption lingered that perhaps a Hindu was responsible, fitting the victimhood narrative being pushed after Pahalgam. However, the reality turned out to be very different. The accused molester was identified as Mohammed Abid, a Muslim man from Mewat.

Journalist Swati Goel Sharma took to Twitter and pointedly inquired, “Kashmiri journalist reveals he was asked to delete a report by Kashmiri group at Jamia Milia about harassment of a Kashmiri girl at campus, hours after it went viral.” She further asked, “Was it because molester turned out to be Mohd Abid from Mewat, puncturing their narrative of blaming it on Hindus as aftermath of Pahalgam?”

In the viral video clip that surfaced soon after, the 24-year-old victim herself confronted the accused. She was clearly agitated and could be heard saying, “What did you do while walking? You did nothing? He punched me on my chest. Look here now,” as she pointed towards the area where she was attacked.

Delhi Police later confirmed that Mohammed Abid had been detained on the same day, Sunday, April 27. Preliminary investigations clarified that the incident had no connection with the Pahalgam terror attack, although misleading narratives had already begun to circulate online before the identity of the molester was made public.

Meanwhile, journalist Ubair ul Hameed expressed his deep disappointment at how he was forced to delete the report under pressure from Kashmiri students at Jamia. He noted with irony that while he was silenced, other media channels were allowed to continue reporting the incident. According to Hameed, the deletion request stemmed from “security concerns” for Kashmiri students, and not because of the accused’s Muslim identity or his origins from Mewat.

Diversionary Tactics at Work

The exposure of the real identity of the molester effectively shattered attempts to falsely blame Hindus for the incident. It once again exposed a larger trend that seems to be actively working to demonize the Hindu community post-Pahalgam terror attack.

This deliberate ploy to weaponize ‘Muslim victimhood’ is being utilized to hijack public discourse and draw attention away from the brutal, religion-motivated massacre of Hindus in Pahalgam.

Earlier, certain nationalist media outlets had already uncovered similar tactics. They debunked a fabricated story about the supposed death of a Muslim corporate employee in Bengaluru. According to the fake report, the employee was killed by Hindu colleagues for refusing to chant the 'Gayatri Mantra' and allegedly for not commenting on the Pahalgam attack.

The fabricated news was widely circulated by the left-leaning outlet The Quint, which later deleted the story without issuing any apology. This false story was initially covered by ‘journalist’ Aliza Noor, who based her report on an unverified LinkedIn post by a user named Ishan Saxena. No fact-checking was done before publishing, making it clear that the intent was not to report the truth, but to promote the ‘Muslim victimhood’ narrative. Once the holes in the story were exposed, the article was quietly taken down.

These incidents highlight a growing trend where selective reporting and misinformation are used to manipulate public perception. Instead of seeking justice for the real victims of religious hate crimes like those in Pahalgam, the focus is being diverted by creating false narratives of victimhood.
