Uttar Pradesh: Minor Hindu Girl Abducted, Converted, and Forced into Marriage – Father Called ‘Kafir’ and Nearly Lynched

A shocking case has surfaced from the Konia locality under the Adampur police station area of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The incident involves the kidnapping of a minor Hindu girl, her forced religious conversion, and marriage to a Maulvi.

Acting on the complaint, the Commissioner of Police, Mohit Aggarwal, directed that a case be registered against four individuals, one of whom has not yet been identified. Reports confirm that the victim’s father had written directly to the Commissioner, explaining the ordeal and demanding action against those involved in the abduction and conversion of his daughter.

The father alleged that “Nihal, a resident of Konia, had kidnapped his daughter three months ago.” When he found out about his child’s whereabouts, he went to confront Nihal and pleaded for her release. However, Nihal coldly told him that the girl had already been converted to Islam and married to a Maulvi. According to the father, Nihal insulted him by calling him “Kafir” and even went as far as to threaten him with words that he would be sent to “Jahannum” (hell). Nihal further declared that the girl now belonged to them and would not be returned to her family.

The situation escalated when Nihal’s father, Abbu Shareef, his brother Lalu, and other relatives issued threats to kill the complainant. Matters took a violent turn soon after, when a mob of nearly 200 people surrounded the victim’s father and attempted to lynch him. He narrowly escaped and managed to save his life.

The father stated that he had reached out for help earlier by approaching the Kazzakpura police post and the Adampur police station. However, according to his complaint, he was dismissed and denied assistance. Feeling helpless and ignored, the distressed father finally sought direct intervention from Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal. Responding to the plea, the Commissioner on 1st September ordered that an FIR be registered.

Following this directive, the police swung into action. By late evening on the same day, two people, including Nihal and a woman, were arrested in connection with the case. Authorities have also launched a search for Nihal’s father and brother, who remain at large.

The accused have been booked under Section 137(2), 351(2), 352, and 191(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 5(3) of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021. Officials have assured that strict legal action will be taken against those involved and that the rescue of the girl remains a top priority. Investigations are currently ongoing.
