The echoes of chaotic shouts, acrid tear gas, and sudden gunfire still hang over the heart of the national capital following the clashes during the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) "Chalo Sansad" rally. At the center of the unfolding human tragedy is 25-year-old Irshad Shaikh, an IT sector worker based in Gurgaon who originally moved to Delhi two years ago from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Shaikh was among the thousands who gathered to raise their voices for systemic reform, only to end up severely injured in a hospital bed.
