The town, with a rich legacy of 90 years in the firecracker industry, which accounts for 90% of India’s production, is facing an unprecedented challenge. This year, around 8 lakh industry workers find themselves on the brink of unemployment as a consequence of a series of bans on firecrackers by various state governments, including Delhi's blanket ban effective until January 1.
