A 25-year-old man from New Delhi, Rinku Sharma, was brutally murdered by a Muslim mob on the night of 10 February at about 11 pm. As per the family members of the deceased, the killers were known to Rinku and held a grudge against him for his Hindu activism and association with Hindu organizations. Those named in the killing are Zahid, Mehtab, Nasruddin, Islam and Tazuddin. The family of the accused has a different version. In yet another heinous act, the idols of Chamundi, Durga and Brahmaki at the Gengayamman temple in Thiruporur near Chennai has been stolen by unidentified persons on Thursday. Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating.

In a major crackdown, the Income Tax Department had raided the premises of Believers Eastern Church in Thiruvalla in central Kerala. The Church is led by evangelist KP Yohannan and is accused of diverting funds collected for charity for religious proselytisation.
