The Bengali Hindus and Calcutta owe their very existence in India to the Great Gopal Patha. He changed the tide of Hindu genocide in Calcutta during Jinnah and Suhrawardy's diabolical call for Direct Action in 1946 aimed at including Calcutta forcibly in Pakistan by annihilating Hindus

'Direct Action Day' - The day - 16th August - was chosen deliberately with utmost care to provoke Islamist sentiments. That day in 1946 was the eighteenth day of Ramzan, and it was on that day that Prophet Muhammad waged the bloody Battle of Badr which resulted in his first decisive victory over the heathens and the subsequent conquest of Mecca
On 16th August 1946, Kolkata (then Calcutta) experienced its most violent convulsions. The infamous ‘week of long knives’ – an unprecedented orgy of loot, murder, rapes and molestation let loose on the city’s unsuspecting Hindus by Muslim League strongmen and goons that left 7,000 people dead, tens of thousands maimed and an estimated 1.2 lakh homeless – started with the call for ‘direct action day’ by League supremo Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

"NO WOMAN ever had to hug a tree to protect it," says Chandi Prasad Bhatt, the founder of Chipko. The concept of hugging a tree to defend it was so powerful, it brought in a new consciousness to the country that put environment at its centre
Today while running through deep searches for some specific content regarding Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi I came across mention of this author Ramchandra Guha. So, when Amazon was showing books written by him, there was this one book which caught my attention immediately "Chipko Movement". Excited to know what this movement was all about as I have never heard of any such andolan before in my life, I started going through many articles and synopsis submitted on the topic. We have always been told that as a Sanatani, that we pray nature, but does it mean one would be ready to giver his/her li...

The millions sold into servitude within India and abroad have been erased from our national memory, but they haunt our present, scarring our culture and polity
‘The basis of the obligation of jihad is the universality of the Muslim revelation. God’s words and God’s message is for all mankind; it is the duty of those who have accepted them to strive (jihada) unceasingly to convert or at least subjugate those who have not. This obligation is without limit of time or space. It must continue until the whole world has either accepted the Islamic faith or submitted to the power of the Islamic state.’ [Bernard Lewis, The Political Language of Islam]

After Aryan Khan, Shah Rukh Khan's son, was detained by NCB in drugs party case in Mumbai, an old clip of the Bollywood actor is now making rounds of the Internet
Bollywood and controversies have a strong relation. Whether the talk is about casting couch, decadence, nepotism, bias or connections to the high and mighty, Bollywood has surely for long taken centre stage in the global media.

But the loss at Panipat had far-reaching effects. The Maratha plan to invade Awadh and Bengal was aborted. The Nawab of Awadh invited the EIC. Panipat III gave the English a respite
The Marathas deploying for action in the dim winter dawn: the Vazir, in full armour; whither do you fly?’: the choking dust: the combatants rolling on the ground, locked in a deadly embrace: the cries of ‘Din! Din!’ and ‘Har, Har, Mahadev!’ and lastly, the dramatic annihilation of one the most splendid and gallant armies that ever took the field. A defeat is, under some circumstances, as honorable as a victory; and never, in all their annals, did the Maratha armies cover themselves with greater glory, than when the flower of the chivalry of the Deccan perished on the stricken field of Panip...

It is a matter of utmost disgust that Shastri Ji’s death is still a secret. During his visit to Tashkent, he breathed his last. The reason for his death is still unknown to the common man. Several Politicians and other groups asked the Government to put forth the facts and evidence, but Congress Govt rejected it citing security reasons

A huge hawan kund was filled with hawan samagri, it caught fire on its own as if Maa Bhavani was eager to accept her daughters and kids in her arms. The self sacrifice was started by Rani Padmini, she jumped in the huge hawan kund loudly chanting “Jai Bhavani” and “Har Har Mahadev”
The history of Chittor is one of the most stirring chapters in Indian history for it was there that the flower of Rajput chivalry sprang to life and the immense stretch of its sacred walls and ruined palaces relate the saga of innumerable sieges and heroism which has almost become a myth now.

According to Afif, he had collected 180,000 Hindus boys as slaves; ‘Some of the slaves spent their time in reading and committing to memory the holy book, others in religious studies, others in copying books’
Will talk here of the most revered and tolerant Sufi saints of medieval India. All indications suggest that, instead of taking on a missionary profession for propagating Islam through peaceful means, the Sufis were invariably the spiritual and moral supporter of bloody holy wars that were waged by Muslim rulers. They were even prominent participants in them. In Kashmir, it is the Sufis, who inspired bloody Jihad that involved whole-sale destruction of Hindu temples and idols, slaughter of Hindus and their forced conversion to Islam. The mentality, attitude and actions of these illustrious S...
