Amid Covid restrictions, thousands of farmers from the Bharatiya Kisan Union (Dakaunda) assembled at a grain market in poll-bound Punjab’s Barnala district on Friday for a show of strength, said to be the largest by farmers since they ended their Delhi border protests. At the gathering, the union’s leaders urged the farmers to question all political parties, including the ruling Congress, about their unfulfilled promises.

On December 10, a man named Anil Arora was arrested in Punjab for allegedly hurting the sentiments of the Sikh community by making derogatory remarks against Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his father, Kalyan Chand Das Bedi. Arora was arrested from Panchkula, Haryana, on the intervening night of December 8 and December 9. The arrest pertains to a Clubhouse discussion, a voice-based social media app, where Anil Arora ended up making certain statements after provocation from several Khalistanis abusing Hindus.

The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) has filed a plea with the Delhi High Court asking it to instruct Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla and two others to pay up the fine of Rs 20 lakh imposed on them for filing a case opposing the rollout of 5G technology. The fine was imposed on the actor and two others by Delhi HC in June last year after it dismissed the petition filed by actor Juhi Chawla against the 5G rollout in the country calling it a publicity stunt.

Another horrific incident of grooming jihad has come to light from Uttar Pradesh, where a married Muslim man married a Hindu woman, and later killed her. The murder took place in the Kashiram Colony of Para area of Lucknow late in the evening on Thursday 20th January 2022. Mohammad Yasin, a supplier of ayurvedic medicine allegedly killed his second wife Zara Khan aka Sofia aged 26, by suffocating her with a pillow. Both Zara Khan and Mohammad Yasin are from Bahraich. The incident happened in their house in the Old Kashiram Colony area.
