The Tamil Nadu police's action comes after a disturbing revelation surfaced in the Hindustan Times report. Kesavamoorthi, who hails from Cholapuram in the Thanjavur district, has been apprehended for his alleged heinous crimes. Despite his limited formal education, having completed only up to 10th Std, Kesavamoorthi claimed to have acquired knowledge in Siddha medicine from a mentor in Chennai.
His reputation in Cholapuram was notably tied to his treatments for 'impotency.' Kesavamoorthi had established himself as a go-to person for this particular ailment, attracting a clientele seeking alternative treatments. The gravity of the situation unfolds with the understanding that beneath this facade of a traditional healer, lurked a much darker reality.
had a disturbing pattern in his interactions with the young men who sought his treatments. These young men, coming to him for help with their health concerns, unknowingly became targets in a sinister plot. A particularly tragic example of this pattern is the case of 27-year-old Ashok Rajan.
Police Investigation Leads Them to Homosexual ‘Quack’
Ashok Rajan, originally from Cholapuram, worked as a driver in Chennai. His life took a tragic turn when he went missing on 13th November 2023. The alarm was raised by his grandmother, M Padmini, who filed a missing complaint with the Cholapuram police on 15th November. In her complaint, she highlighted that Rajan had left for Chennai but never resumed his job. Additionally, his phone was unreachable, which escalated the worries about his whereabouts.
The police investigation into Rajan’s disappearance led them to the house of T Kesavamoorthi. This was the last known location of Rajan after he left his home. Upon interrogating Kesavamoorthi, the police encountered significant discrepancies in his statements. Under sustained questioning, these inconsistencies led to a shocking confession.
The Thanjavur district police, in a statement on 27th November 2023, revealed the chilling details of Kesavamoorthi's confession. He admitted to murdering Ashok Rajan. The confession also included an acknowledgment of his homosexuality and a sexual relationship with Rajan. This revelation added a complex layer to the case, intertwining issues of sexual orientation with the gruesome act of murder.
The case, now marked by the confession of Kesavamoorthi, paints a grim picture of trust betrayed and lives tragically cut short. The investigation continues to unravel the full extent of Kesavamoorthi's actions and the impact they had on the lives of young men like Ashok Rajan, who sought nothing more than medical help.

Accused Killed Rajan as He Was Getting Married
In a deeply unsettling development, the case took a more sinister turn when the accused, T Kesavamoorthi, revealed his motive for the murder of Ashok Rajan. Kesavamoorthi confessed that he killed Rajan because he was getting married. This revelation was particularly heart-wrenching, considering that Rajan's grandmother had shared that his engagement was planned for February 2024, a decision taken by the family with hopes and dreams for his future.
The police investigation further led to a horrifying discovery. In the backyard of Kesavamoorthi’s house, authorities found the remains of Ashok Rajan. The police, upon digging in the area, unearthed chopped parts of Rajan's body. These remains were not only in the backyard but also in a garden where Kesavamoorthi grew herbs. Strikingly, all internal organs were missing from the body. Initially, the police considered the possibility of organ trade, given the absence of the internal organs, suggesting a potentially broader criminal activity.
As the investigation progressed, a more gruesome aspect of the crime came to light. Kesavamoorthi, upon intense interrogation and after being confronted with all the circumstantial evidence, made a shocking confession. He admitted to not only murdering Ashok Rajan but also engaging in cannibalism. He confessed to cooking and consuming the organs of the 27-year-old victim. This admission by Kesavamoorthi added a layer of horror to an already tragic and complex case.
The police officers’ statements to The Hindustan Times detail the difficulty in extracting this confession, as Kesavamoorthi initially remained silent and uncooperative. However, the persistent interrogation and the overwhelming evidence led him to reveal these chilling details. The case, thus, not only involves the brutal murder of a young man but also the disturbing act of cannibalism, sending shockwaves through the community and beyond.

Kesavamoorthi Resorted to Cannibalism
The case involving T Kesavamoorthi took an even more macabre turn as further details of his actions came to light. In a premeditated act of extreme violence, Kesavamoorthi had reportedly purchased masala from the market, indicating he had planned the murder of Ashok Rajan and the subsequent cooking of his body parts well in advance.
Kesavamoorthi’s actions following the murder were chillingly methodical. He first administered a sedative tablet to Rajan, rendering him unconscious. This was followed by Kesavamoorthi engaging in sexual intercourse with the victim. The level of premeditation and the violation of Rajan's body even after death adds layers of horror to the crime.
The brutality continued as Kesavamoorthi used machetes and a grinding machine to dismember Rajan's body. He made incisions to remove the ribs and extract the organs, a process he learned by watching surgery videos on YouTube. This detail reveals a calculated approach to the crime, as Kesavamoorthi sought specific knowledge to carry out the dismemberment.
In a further grotesque act, Kesavamoorthi consumed parts of Rajan's body, engaging in cannibalism. He also fed some of the remains to his dog, demonstrating a complete disregard for human life and dignity. This act of cannibalism is not only shocking but also points to a deeply disturbed mindset.

Discovery of Another Victim
The horror of Kesavamoorthi’s actions was compounded by another discovery by the police. In the backyard, authorities found a jawbone, adding a new dimension to the investigation. A forensic examination of this jawbone revealed that it belonged to a different man, suggesting that Kesavamoorthi’s criminal activities may have included more than one victim.
This discovery indicates the possibility of Kesavamoorthi being a serial offender, with potentially more victims who had fallen prey to his heinous acts. The police investigation is likely to delve deeper into Kesavamoorthi's past actions, uncovering the extent of his crimes and bringing to light any other victims who may have suffered at his hands. The case, already marked by its gruesome nature, now takes on an even more serious and urgent tone as the police work to uncover the full scope of Kesavamoorthi's criminal activities.
Police Confirm Identity of Another Victim as Mohammed Anas
In a significant development in the investigation, the Tamil Nadu police made strides in solving another missing person case linked to T Kesavamoorthi. Upon examining various missing complaints, they identified another victim as Mohammed Anas, a resident of Cholapuram who had been missing since 2021. This revelation deepened the intrigue surrounding Kesavamoorthi and his alleged crimes.
Anas’s family played a crucial role in this discovery. They informed the police that Anas frequently visited Kesavamoorthi’s house. This piece of information was a critical lead for the police, as it established a connection between Anas and Kesavamoorthi.
The police delved deeper into the case by examining Kesavamoorthi’s phone records. These records showed regular communication between Kesavamoorthi and Anas, further solidifying the link between the two. With this compelling evidence at hand, the police confronted Kesavamoorthi.
Upon being faced with this evidence, Kesavamoorthi confessed to his involvement in Anas’s disappearance. This confession was a pivotal moment in the investigation, as it not only confirmed Anas as a victim but also highlighted the extent of Kesavamoorthi’s criminal activities.
Ashish Rawat, the DSP (Deputy Superintendent of Police) of Thanjavur district, provided further insights into the case while speaking to Hindustan Times. He revealed a disturbing pattern in Kesavamoorthi’s actions, stating, “He was in sexual relationship with both the victims. In both the cases, he killed the victims after they informed him they were getting married.” This statement sheds light on a possible motive behind the murders – Kesavamoorthi’s reaction to his victims’ plans to get married.
However, in a slight deviation from the previous case, Kesavamoorthi did not consume the organs of Mohammed Anas after killing him.

Investigation into Potential Additional Victims
The Cholapuram police are now intensively investigating the possibility that T Kesavamoorthi may have been involved in more crimes beyond those already uncovered. Given Kesavamoorthi's established pattern of targeting those who came to him for treatment, the police suspect there could be other victims. To this end, they are meticulously compiling a list of individuals who received treatment from Kesavamoorthi. This step is crucial in establishing a comprehensive understanding of Kesavamoorthi's interactions with his patients and potentially uncovering more heinous acts committed by him.
A Namibrajan, the village head of Cholapuram, shared his perspective on the disturbing developments with Hindustan Times. He recalled instances where he had cautioned some villagers about spending excessive time at Kesavamoorthi’s house. Namibrajan's warnings were met with resistance as the families of those involved often defended their visits to Kesavamoorthi. This response from the families highlights the trust and credibility Kesavamoorthi had managed to establish in the community, despite Namibrajan's suspicions.
Namibrajan also mentioned that Kesavamoorthi's estranged elder brother resides just a street away from him. This detail adds another layer to the story, suggesting a potential familial disconnect and possibly providing further context to Kesavamoorthi's personal life and background. The close proximity of the estranged brother, coupled with the community's initial defense of Kesavamoorthi, paints a picture of a man who was well-integrated into the community, making the revelations about his crimes all the more shocking.
