No one imagined Reena Sindhu, a wife and mother, would pick love and lust over loyalty—plotting with her lover to bludgeon husband Ravindra with a shovel, dump his body in Kotdwar, and flee in his SUV—all for a ₹3 crore Moradabad mansion

A chilling crime from Uttarakhand has brought back memories of the gruesome Sonam–Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Indore. Just as Sonam, with the help of her lover, had thrown her husband off a cliff, a similar shocking event unfolded in Delhi and Uttarakhand. This time, it was 56-year-old Ravindra Kumar, a resident of South Delhi, who mysteriously disappeared in the first week of June. What followed was a trail of lies, betrayal, and a cold-blooded murder driven by love and greed.

On June 5, the Uttarakhand police discovered an unclaimed male body on the roadside along the Dugadda route in Kotdwar. Days later, the body was identified as that of Ravindra Kumar, who lived in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. After more than two weeks of investigation, the Pauri police unraveled the mystery and exposed a horrifying truth—the entire murder plot was masterminded by Ravindra’s own wife, Reena Sindhu, and her lover. Both of them have since been arrested.
The woman accused in the case is Reena Sindhu, 34 years old, who lived with Ravindra in Ramganga Vihar, Civil Lines, Moradabad, a well-off neighborhood. The second accused, Paritosh Kumar, is a 33-year-old man from Sarai Pureni village, located under the Nagina police station in Bijnor district. Police confirmed that Paritosh was in a romantic relationship with Reena.
According to Circle Officer Niharika Semwal, during police questioning, “Reena told that she used to run a physiotherapy center in her house located at C-51, Ramganga Bihar, Police Station Civil Line in Moradabad. A young man named Paritosh came to her center, with whom she fell in love.”
The investigation further revealed that Reena and Paritosh had hatched a plan together to kill Ravindra. They first gave him alcohol to get him intoxicated, and then Paritosh attacked him with a shovel, hitting him repeatedly on the neck and chest. After committing the murder, they stuffed the body into an SUV-500, drove it all the way from Bijnor to Kotdwar, and dumped it into a ditch near Dugadda. They later abandoned the vehicle in Noida and went underground to escape police detection.

During the interrogation, Reena gave a shocking confession. She said, “Ravindra owned a large house in Moradabad. He wanted to sell it, but I was against the idea. Around this time, I met Paritosh, who came to my physiotherapy clinic as a patient. Eventually, we fell in love and started a physical relationship. Together, we decided to eliminate Ravindra.”
The murder was carried out with precision on May 31. Reena called her husband to Paritosh’s house in Nagina, Bijnor, pretending it was for a casual visit. Once there, they gave him alcohol, and Paritosh struck Ravindra multiple times with a shovel, killing him on the spot. They then placed his lifeless body inside the SUV, drove to Kotdwar, and dumped the corpse in a forested area off the roadside near Dugadda. After this, they fled to Noida, leaving behind the SUV used in the crime.
Ravindra and Reena’s story goes back to 2007, when Ravindra was living in Doiwala, Uttarakhand, after separating from his first wife. It was there that he first met Reena. They got married in 2011 and went on to have two children. In the years that followed, Ravindra sold off his ancestral land in Delhi’s Rajokri area and bought a three-storey mansion in Moradabad, valued at approximately ₹3 crore. Reena started her physiotherapy clinic in this same house. It was here that she met Paritosh for the first time.

It was Ravindra’s brother, Rajesh Kumar, who helped police connect the dots. On June 17, Rajesh filed a complaint at the Kotdwar police station, stating that Ravindra had not contacted his family since May 9. Reena had told them that Ravindra had gone into hiding because he feared arrest in an ₹18 lakh cheque bounce case, and that he was only speaking through other people’s phones while traveling. However, the family began doubting this story when they learned that Ravindra had plans to sell the Moradabad house to clear his debts, something that Reena strongly opposed.
Later, it was discovered that Reena had driven Ravindra’s SUV to Kotdwar on June 1 and 2. Both she and the vehicle disappeared afterwards. This led the police to launch a detailed investigation, and they soon uncovered the full sequence of events. It was clear that Reena had deliberately lured Ravindra to Nagina and murdered him with the help of her lover Paritosh.
The brutality of the crime was confirmed through medical and digital evidence. The post-mortem report revealed two broken ribs, indicating that Ravindra was attacked with force. Police also reviewed CCTV footage, mobile phone data, and used forensic analysis to track the movements of the SUV, which was found abandoned in Noida. The digital evidence left no doubt—Reena and Paritosh were responsible.

In a final confession, Reena admitted:
“The Moradabad house was jointly in my and Ravindra’s name. He wanted to sell it due to financial pressure and a court penalty of several lakhs. I didn’t want to sell. This led to frequent fights. Meanwhile, I developed a physical and emotional relationship with Paritosh. Eventually, we planned the murder and disposed of his body far away.”
Further information came from Kotwali in-charge Ramesh Tanwar, who stated that “In 2007, Ravindra had a rift with his first wife Asha Devi in Delhi and he came to live in Haridwar. He married Reena Sindhu in Haridwar.” After the marriage, Ravindra sold off crores worth of property in Delhi and Haryana and settled down in Moradabad with Reena. As per family sources, Reena was almost twenty years younger than Ravindra, making their relationship complex from the beginning.
