BJP Removes MP Leader After 120-Vehicle Rally Defies PM Modi’s Call for Fuel Conservation

The Bharatiya Janata Party in Madhya Pradesh has initiated disciplinary action against one of its newly appointed leaders after a massive political rally involving hundreds of vehicles triggered controversy and criticism. The party removed Sajjan Singh Yadav from the post of Bhind district president of the BJP Kisan Morcha only days after appointing him, citing his failure to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated public appeals regarding fuel and energy conservation.

Sajjan Singh Yadav had been appointed as the District President of the BJP Kisan Morcha in Bhind on 13th May. However, shortly after his appointment, a grand welcome procession was organised in his honour. The rally began from Gwalior and moved towards Bhind with a long convoy reportedly involving nearly 120 vehicles and hundreds of supporters. The scale of the procession immediately attracted public attention, particularly because it came at a time when the Prime Minister has consistently urged citizens to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption and avoid wasteful expenditure of national resources.

As videos and photographs of the rally spread rapidly across social media platforms, criticism also intensified. The convoy occupied major roads for a prolonged duration and created severe traffic congestion in different parts of the city. Witnesses described scenes of crowded roads filled with vehicles, loud slogans from supporters, and constant blaring of horns that disturbed normal movement across the area. The spectacle quickly became a topic of political discussion online, with many questioning the contradiction between the Prime Minister’s public messaging and the conduct of party workers on the ground.

Reacting to the controversy, the BJP organisation issued an official notification announcing immediate action against Yadav. The letter strongly referred to the event as a breach of discipline within the party structure.

“It has come to our attention through various newspapers and social media platforms that, on 13th May, a rally organised by the Kisan Morcha took place under your leadership, moving from Gwalior to Bhind with a procession of hundreds of vehicles. This action on your part demonstrates a disregard for the appeal made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi concerning energy conservation,” the official notification read.

The statement made it clear that the party leadership viewed the large-scale vehicle procession as being directly against the Prime Minister’s repeated emphasis on responsible fuel usage and energy discipline. BJP leaders treated the matter seriously because Prime Minister Modi has, on multiple occasions, appealed to citizens to consciously reduce unnecessary petrol and diesel consumption, especially during periods of international economic pressure.

The notification further stated:

“In light of this development, the state organisation has taken serious notice and classified it as an act of indiscipline. Consequently, in accordance with the directives issued by the state president, Hemant Khandelwal, the appointment of Sajjan Singh Yadav as the district president of the Kisan Morcha of Bhind is hereby revoked.”

With this order, Yadav’s appointment was cancelled with immediate effect, making it one of the rare instances where the BJP acted swiftly against a party functionary over a public display considered contradictory to the Prime Minister’s appeal for austerity and resource conservation.

According to reports, Sajjan Singh Yadav travelled from Gwalior to Bhind accompanied by supporters in a large roadshow-like procession. The convoy stretched across roads with approximately 120 vehicles taking part. The atmosphere during the rally remained loud and chaotic as supporters raised slogans continuously while vehicles moved together through busy public areas. Traffic jams reportedly developed at several locations due to the unusually large movement of vehicles.

The controversy gained even greater attention because of the contrast people drew with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s own public conduct. Around the same period, PM Modi was seen travelling in a convoy consisting of only two vehicles. Over recent months, the Prime Minister has repeatedly spoken about the importance of saving fuel, reducing dependence on imports, and ensuring that every citizen contributes responsibly during difficult global conditions.

These appeals have become particularly significant because of the ongoing instability in West Asia. The war in the region has raised serious concerns regarding global energy supplies and fertiliser availability. One of the biggest worries internationally has been the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime route through which a major portion of the world’s oil and energy shipments pass. Any blockade or disruption in this region has the potential to impact fuel prices, energy security, and economic stability across multiple countries, including India.

Against this backdrop, the massive vehicle rally organised in Bhind came to be viewed not merely as a political celebration, but as an avoidable display that contradicted the larger message being promoted by the Prime Minister himself. The BJP leadership’s decision to remove Sajjan Singh Yadav appears to reflect an attempt to reinforce organisational discipline and publicly underline the importance of adhering to the party’s stated position on fuel conservation and responsible public conduct.
