"गर्दिश में हों तारे, न घबराना प्यारे": A Zero FIR registered against Noida resident Ruchika Singh at Expressway police station after her vulgar remarks targeting PM Narendra Modi during a CJP protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar went viral on social media

In a significant legal development, a Zero FIR has been officially registered at the Expressway police station in Noida against Ruchika Singh, who resides at the Lotus Zing Society located in Sector 168. The legal action stems from her alleged involvement in making abusive, vulgar, and highly derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. These comments were made during a public protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

The formal case was lodged on 29 July 2026, following a detailed complaint submitted by Smriti Singh, a resident of the Vasundhara area in Ghaziabad. According to the facts outlined in the complaint, the incident occurred on 23 July 2026, when Ruchika Singh publicly used deeply objectionable and abusive language against the Prime Minister while addressing a large gathering from a public platform at the Jantar Mantar protest site. The complainant explicitly noted that these remarks did not just undermine the overall dignity associated with the constitutional office of the Prime Minister, but were also delivered with the deliberate intention of spreading hostility and disturbing public peace across the region.
Elaborating on the gravity of the situation within her formal filing, "Singh in the complaint said that the position of Prime Minister represents the nation, and such remarks not only undermine the dignity of the position but also hurt public sentiments."
Given the nature of the offense, the Zero FIR has been registered under specific provisions of the modern criminal legal framework, namely Sections 352 (which pertains to intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 353(1) (concerning statements conducing to public mischief), and 356(1) (covering defamation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Because the event and speech took place within the territorial jurisdiction of the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi, the case is officially set to be transferred to the Delhi Police for further detailed investigation. In the meantime, Noida police have initiated an preliminary probe. This investigation will include a thorough examination of video footage recorded during the protest, additional digital materials circulated online, and official statements taken from eye-witnesses present at the scene.

Over the past few days, multiple video clips featuring Ruchika Singh uttering vulgar and abusive comments in Hindi directly targeting PM Modi had gone viral across various social media networks. Beyond utilizing unprintable Hindi expletives and extreme obscenities, she went as far as publicly asking PM Modi to commit suicide. Furthermore, Ruchika had also made extremely derogatory remarks concerning PM Modi and Italian PM Giorgia Meloni. Following intense backlash and widespread condemnation of her statements across social media platforms, Ruchika later deactivated her personal Instagram account.
The sequence of events leading to the police filing unfolded after the videos circulated widely online. Upon seeing the viral content, a few activists managed to identify her from the video recordings and traced her residential address in Noida. Following this discovery, Smriti Singh approached the Expressway police station in Noida to file the complaint based on Ruchika's local address. The Noida police subsequently registered the Zero FIR on these grounds and initiated the transfer of the case to the Parliament Street police station in New Delhi, where further investigation and necessary legal actions will be carried out based on proper territorial jurisdiction.
Additional background details regarding the suspect have surfaced online. As per claims made on social media, Ruchika is 25 years old, and she works at a local Salon. Alongside these details, there are also unverified claims suggesting that Ruchika and her family are currently on the run after learning that the formal complaint had been filed against her. Adding further context to the case, Advocate Smriti Singh Chandel posted a video explaining why she filed the case against Ruchika.
The broader context of the event traces back to the demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar. The protest, which successfully drew large numbers of young people, was originally organized to voice concerns over alleged irregularities in national competitive examinations, including the high-profile NEET paper leak, and to demand clear accountability from the government. However, the nature of the demonstration shifted as the protest was soon hijacked by leftist activists and so-called Gen Z youths who displayed abusive and derogatory posters and voiced similar foul comments. A large number of videos went viral from the venue, where such Gen Z CJP protesters could be heard using extremely vulgar and abusive language directed not only at Prime Minister Narendra Modi but also at other Union ministers present in thought or mention at Jantar Mantar. Among these widespread displays, Ruchika Singh’s specific remarks are among the instances that have drawn particular public attention and directly led to the formal legal complaint.
At present, law enforcement officials are reviewing all gathered evidence. Police sources have confirmed that further legal action will depend entirely on the final outcome of the ongoing investigation. Officially, Ruchika Singh has not been arrested so far. This particular case is part of a broader series of incidents in which derogatory statements were made against the PM and other ministers during the multi-day protest.
