“Isn’t it kind of silly to think that tearing someone else down builds you up”: Dravidian Model Enters Temple ~ Ritual Umbrella of Deities for MK Stalin’s wife whereas normal Umbrella for the Lord drew flak from devotees & general public for abusing power

A video of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin’s wife taking cover from rain by using the temple deity’s umbrella has gone viral on social media.

Just when you think you have seen the worse, DMK shocks you with such things.

Can it get worse than this?

On 9 December 2022, Chief Minister Stalin’s wife Durga visited the Vadivudai Amman Temple in Thiruvottiyur, Chennai, for having darshan. The temple administration honored her with special treatment.

As it was raining on that day, the temple officials covered Durga Stalin with the umbrella normally used for the procession of the temple deity. The temple’s deity Vadivudai Amman was, however, covered with a normal black colored umbrella.

This video of Durga Stalin using the temple deity’s umbrella has drawn flak from the devotees and general public, who criticized Durga Stalin for abusing power as CM’s wife and acting against the “Agamas” of the temple.

A massive controversy erupted in #TamilNadu after Chief Minister #MKStalin's wife, Durga Stalin, was found leaving a temple in #Chennai with the umbrella used for the deity.

The Vadivudai Amman temple lies in northern Chennai in Tiruvottiyur. It is also called the Thyagaraja Temple and is dedicated to Shiva. The presiding deity is in the form of Swayambhu (self-manifested) Shiva Lingam called Sri Aadhi Pureeswarar. The Goddess is Vadivudai Amman, a very powerful Goddess in the form of Gnana Shakthi (wisdom and knowledge). The temple has been praised in Tevaram hymns by the Saiva Nayanars (7th-century Tamil poets) and has been categorized as a Paadal Petra Sthalam. There are 276 Shaivite temples or Punyasthalas selected as Paadal Petra Sthalams based on their antiquity, the rich culture, and the reverence attached to the temple.

All three Thevaram Moovars (Appar, Samandar, and Sundarar) have rendered Thevaram songs in the temple. This is one among the 44 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where all the Moovars have rendered their Pathigams. The temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peetams in the country. Great poets and scholars have eulogized the temple, affirming the splendor of India’s rich tradition and spirituality. The temple is managed by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Some Indian Army soldiers were reportedly injured in a clash with Chinese troops in Arunachal Pradesh on December 9. Confirming the development, the Indian Army said in a statement, "In certain areas along the LAC in the Tawang Sector in Arunachal Pradesh, there are areas of differing perception, wherein both sides patrol the area up to their claim lines. This has been the trend since 2006."

"On 9 December 2022, PLA troops contacted the LAC in Tawang Sector, which was contested by our own troops in a firm and resolute manner. This face-off led to minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides."

Indian Army chief General Manoj Pandey had last month termed the situation along the LAC as "stable but unpredictable." The India-China border had been relatively silent amid ongoing rounds of discussions between the military leadership of both countries.

Despite India and China having 16 rounds of consultations achieving some de-escalation, several issues still remain unaddressed. With the onset of winter, Indian armed forces had started fortifying its infrastructure along the border. The Army chief stated that India's actions on LAC are being carefully calibrated to be able to safeguard our interests and sensitivities.

"A reform is a correction of abuses; a revolution is a transfer of power": Historic mistake corrected - Karnataka BJP govt renames 'Salaam Aarti' started by Islamic tyrant Tipu Sultan to 'Namaskara', Hindu organizations long pending demand fulfilled

Under pressure from right-wing groups, the Karnataka government has decided to rename some of the names of rituals conducted at several temples across the state.

Acting on the recommendations of the Karnataka Dharmika Parishad, the state government has decided to rename rituals which were opposed by pro-Hindu groups.

A meeting held by Karnataka Dharmika Parishad on November 2, recommended the government to rename rituals like 'Devatagai Salaam', 'Salaam Aarti and Salaam Mangalarati.' Instead, the Parishad had asked the government to rename these with 'Devatagai Namasakara,' 'Aarti Namaskara, Mangalarati Namaskara,' respectively.

The members of the Parishad were of the opinion that 'Salaam' is not a Sanskrit word and hence it was necessary to change it with a Sanskrit word of similar meaning.

— Satyaagrah (@satyaagrahindia) December 11, 2022

Muzrai Minister Shashikala Jolle in a statement said that only names would be renamed and rituals will not be changed. "After elaborate discussion at the Dharmika Parishad, it has been decided to rename some of the rituals.

Only the names are being changed and there will be no change in the rituals. Devatagi Salaam will be renamed as Devatagi Namaskara, Salaam Aarti will be renamed as Aarati Namaskara and Salaam Mangalarathi as Managalarathi Namaskara," the letter read.

'Salaam Aarti' was a ritual started during the time of Tipu Sultan in Mysuru. It is a ritual practised in various Hindu temples across the state. The government is likely to issue an official order in this regard soon. This order will be applicable to all the temples coming under the Muzrai Department. These rituals are conducted at several famous temples including, Kolllur Mookambike temple, Shri Mahalingeshwara temple in Puttur, and Kukke Subrahmanya temple among others.

In March this year, when the hijab issue was at its peak, several pro-Hindu groups had raised objections to such names and have been demanding to replace them.

"We are all born gifted. That is our true inheritance": Supreme Court observes that female tribal is entitled to parity with male tribal in intestate succession, says "Not to grant benefit of 'Survivorship to daughter in father's property' is bad Law"

The Supreme Court recently observed that not granting the benefits of survivorship in father’s property to the daughter is bad law.

Not To Grant Benefit Of Survivorship To Daughter In Father's Property Is Bad Law: Supreme Court pic.twitter.com/fxoxrkkgQM

— Satyaagrah (@satyaagrahindia) December 10, 2022

A division bench of Justices MR Shah and Krishna Murari was hearing a plea of a woman who was deprived of her share in the compensation with respect to a land that belonged to her father. It was her claim that there may not be any justification to deny the right of survivorship so far as the female member of the ST community is concerned.

The Court urged the Central Government to amend the law as it is bad law stressing that it disqualifies a scheduled tribe (ST) woman from being considered on par with male counterparts in matters of her share in the paternal property.

The court went on to say that "the right to equality is for every citizen, if the right to property has been extended to the non-tribal daughters there is no justification as to why the tribal women must be denied the right".

“Female tribal is entitled to parity with male tribal in intestate succession. To deny the equal right to the daughter belonging to the tribal even after a period of 70 years of the Constitution of India under which the right to equality is guaranteed, it is high time for the Central Government to look into the matter and if required, to amend the provisions of the Hindu Succession Act by which the Act is not made applicable to the members of the Scheduled Tribes” the Court said.

The Court asked the Central government to consider if it was just and necessary and withdraw the provision keeping STs out of the scope of the succession law.

However, the court regretfully said that it cannot pass an order giving the women compensation stating that when there is a conflict of law and equity, the law must prevail.
