The Horrific Exploitation at Kichhauchha Dargah: A Detailed Account
The visit to Ambedkarnagar, meant for spiritual enrichment and family bonding, turned into a harrowing ordeal for a young woman and her family, underscoring the manipulative tactics used by the perpetrator. She came to Ambedkarnagar to visit the place with her family where she met the perpetrator, who is also known as Shamshad inside the dargah. The accused exploited his position and the sanctity of the dargah, initially instilling fear in the woman by mentioning evil spirits, then deceitfully claiming he could cure her with his supposed spiritual powers. The trust placed in his words would soon lead to a devastating betrayal.
On the day that will forever be etched in the victim's memory as one of immense trauma, the culprit took the woman to his room in the name of spiritual healing. He orchestrated a scenario where the family was kept at bay, under the guise that what he was performing was a form of religious medicinal practice, necessitating privacy. It was within the confines of that room that the woman was subjected to sexual abuse. Her attempts to protest were met with dire threats against her life and those of her family members, showcasing the perpetrator's blatant disregard for human dignity.
The family, growing concerned after being separated for an unusually long period, took action. The family members forced the door open after it remained closed for approximately an hour. The moment the door opened, the gravity of the situation was revealed. The victim, overwhelmed by the violation she had endured, broke down and shared the grievous acts she was subjected to. Far from expressing remorse, the offender threatened them with dire consequences if anyone made a complaint regarding the instance.

Courage Leads to Justice: The Arrest of Maulana Syed Mohammad Ashraf
In an empowering turn of events, the resolve and bravery of a young woman led to significant legal action against a man who betrayed the trust of those seeking spiritual solace. Eventually, the woman mustered the courage to report him to the Baskhari police station in the area after which he was taken into custody and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered. The legal system's gears began to turn promptly, ensuring that the accused faced the consequences of his reprehensible actions. He now faces charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections that speak directly to the severity of his crimes, including 376 (punishment for sexual assault), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation). His apprehension on the morning of 8th March from Jalalpur Road marked a critical step towards accountability and justice.
The case was detailed by Rajesh Kumar Singh, the Baskhari Station House Officer, shedding light on the sequence of events that led to the fateful encounter. "A family from Maharashtra sought spiritual guidance from Ashraf during their visit to the guest house located in the jurisdiction of Kichhauchha under Baskhari," Singh explained. The FIR, as lodged by the woman's husband, narrates how their pursuit of spiritual aid introduced them to Syed Mohammad Ashraf, who deceitfully offered to perform religious rituals to improve the woman's health. "Ashraf purportedly promised to perform 'dua-taweez' for the man's wife, assuring them of her improved health. Subsequently, he ushered them all into a room within the guest house for other rituals," Singh detailed, as reported by IANS.

In a distressing turn of events at the Kichhauchha Dargah, the actions taken by Ashraf deviated drastically from expected religious practices. Rather than conducting prayers in the comforting presence of the victim's family, he chose to isolate the young woman from her loved ones. By asking the family to wait outside, he not only separated them from the victim but also took the alarming step of locking the door, effectively cutting off any immediate support the woman might have sought.
As time worryingly stretched on without any sign of the woman, her family's concern escalated into action. The prolonged absence raised alarm, leading her mother to investigate. The discovery that the door was locked from the inside only deepened the sense of dread. It was this moment of tension and fear that compelled the family to forcibly open the door. What they found was a scene of anguish: the woman, visibly distressed, a stark testament to the ordeal she had endured in what was supposed to be a place of sanctuary and healing.
Following this harrowing experience, the woman underwent a medical examination, a critical step in both her physical and legal journey towards healing and justice. The case is currently under thorough investigation by the police, who have committed to swiftly moving through the investigative and judicial processes. Their assurance to not only wrap up the investigation but also to expedite the filing of the charge sheet and the subsequent court hearing in a fast-track court speaks to the severity with which they view the case. In response to this incident, there's an ongoing effort to identify individuals who misuse their positions of trust within the community, highlighting a proactive stance against such violations. The fact that both the victim and the perpetrator belong to the same community adds a layer of complexity to the situation, underscoring the need for internal vigilance and support systems to prevent such incidents in the future.
