UP: Minor Hindu Girl’s Dismembered Body Found Near Railway Tracks, Family Says Farihad Took Her to Mosque and Converted Her to Islam Before Killing Her

In a deeply disturbing event that unfolded in Bareilly’s Fatehganj Purvi village, the dismembered body of a 15-year-old minor Hindu girl was discovered lying near the railway tracks on Wednesday, May 8. The scene, described by local residents as horrifying, has sent shockwaves throughout the community.

The family of the young girl, overwhelmed with grief and anger, has made severe allegations against a local youth. They claim, "Farihad took her to mosque and converted her to Islam before killing her," describing the act as a malicious case of 'love jihad'. According to them, Farihad Hussain, identified as the son of Wahid Hussain, forced the girl to convert to Islam. They allege that soon after the conversion, in a brutal act, he threw her in front of a speeding train leading to her tragic and untimely death.

There is also a suspicion among the victim’s relatives that prior to her murder, she was sexually assaulted by the accused. This accusation adds another layer of atrocity to the already gruesome incident.

Further complicating this tragic case, when Farihad Hussain was apprehended by the family and local villagers as he tried to flee the crime scene, he reportedly attacked the victim's mother with a knife. This act of violence against the grieving mother has only fueled the community's outrage and desire for justice.

In response to this heinous crime, the Bareilly police have promptly taken action. They have confirmed that an FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and that a thorough investigation is underway. The authorities are committed to ensuring that justice is served and are working diligently to gather all necessary evidence to understand the full scope of this tragic event.

The horrifying sequence of events leading to the young girl's death began on a seemingly normal Wednesday morning. The deceased, identified as Lakshmi Yadav, was making her way to school following a distressing phone call from her institution. Her mother revealed that Lakshmi had received a call informing her of low grades in a recent examination and the requirement to take an improvement test.

As Lakshmi was walking towards her school, an encounter with Fariyad Hussain took a tragic turn. Initially appearing helpful, Fariyad offered Lakshmi a ride to school on his motorcycle. However, instead of driving her to school, he deceitfully took her to a remote rail bridge near the Bahgul River. This location later became the scene of the dreadful crime that claimed her life.

The police swiftly responded to the complaint lodged by Lakshmi's grieving family. Fariyad Hussain was arrested, shedding some light on the dreadful events. The family's ordeal was further compounded by revelations about the past months. They allege that Fariyad had been harassing Lakshmi for the last 6-7 months, marking a prolonged period of torment for the young girl. The situation escalated "only last month, the accused Fariyad had forcibly converted Lakshmi," a distressing action that foreshadowed the subsequent tragedy.

Currently, the police are diligently investigating every aspect of this grave incident, piecing together the actions that led to such a heinous outcome. The community, stunned by the severity of the crime, is rallying for justice and measures to protect their children, ensuring such an atrocity does not recur.

As reported by local media sources, after arriving at the bridge, the victim was first assaulted by a group of youths before being pushed in front of a speeding train, resulting in her immediate death at the scene. This appalling act has deeply shaken the community.

In a statement that further details the severity of the incident, the victim's parents told reporters, "the accused first took the minor to a mosque where she was forced to convert to Islam." They also alleged that "she was also sexually assaulted before being brutally killed," pointing to a series of violent acts that preceded her tragic death.

The victim's brother played a crucial role in the events that unfolded. He witnessed his sister being dragged toward the railway tracks by the accused, Farihad Hussain. He quickly alerted other family members, who, along with several locals, rushed to the scene in an attempt to intervene. Despite their efforts to restrain Hussain, he forcefully shoved the girl in front of an oncoming train and then attempted to escape the scene. However, he was promptly accosted by the gathered locals who detained him until the authorities arrived.

The police were notified about the incident by the deceased girl's older sister, who urgently called them to the scene. Upon arrival, the officers took Hussain into custody, securing him for the subsequent legal proceedings.

The train driver, upon witnessing the horrific event, promptly informed railway officials. This set off a series of actions, including the arrival of the Fatehganj East and Miranpur Katra police at the scene. However, confusion and a delay ensued due to a jurisdictional dispute between the two police stations, sparking significant unrest among local Hindu organizations.

Frustrated by the perceived inaction, these groups staged a protest at the East police station late into the night, vociferously demanding the immediate arrest of the complainant. This display of community anger underscores the high emotions surrounding this tragic event and the urgent call for justice.

Reacting to the outcry, the police rapidly escalated their efforts. They tightened the investigation around the complainant involved in the incident, actively interrogating him to ascertain his role and gather crucial evidence. High-ranking officials, including IG Bareilly Range Dr. Rakesh Singh and SSP Bareilly Ghule Sushil Chandrabhan, were promptly at the scene, directing the police to execute decisive and effective actions.

A police spokesperson confirmed via a tweet that a formal report of the incident had been registered and further actions were being pursued diligently. Notably, significant voices within the community, such as Hindu Jagran Manch District President Arun Fauji and VHP leader Himanshu Patel, have vocalized a strong demand for severe punishment against the complainant implicated in this tragic case, highlighting the broader communal impact and the thirst for accountability.

Further complicating the immediate response to the tragedy was the ongoing jurisdictional dispute between the Miranpur Katra and Fatehganj East police stations. This dispute reportedly caused a 12-hour delay in case processing, during which the victim's grieving family, led by a distraught mother, found themselves shuttled between different police posts in their quest for help. This period of bureaucratic inertia, during a time of intense personal trauma for the family, only intensified the community's frustration and sorrow.

Hindu Community Leaders Demand Action as Post-Mortem Concludes

The post-mortem examination of the deceased student's body was conducted in Shahjahanpur, a necessary procedure to determine the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence crucial for the ongoing investigation.

CO Faridpur Gaurav Singh, overseeing the case, confirmed that actions would be based on the family's allegations and that a report would be registered promptly. He also confirmed the detention of one suspect involved in the case, signaling initial progress in the legal process. Despite these developments, there was a notable delay in official responses; Miranpur Katra police, responsible for sending the body for post-mortem three hours after the discovery, were initially reluctant to register the case. This delay exacerbated tensions and led to further community unrest.

After the completion of the post-mortem at seven in the evening, the grieving family transported the body back to the Fatehganj East police station, where it was placed in a car outside the station. This act was a silent but potent display of the family's demand for justice and the urgent need for official acknowledgment and action.

The situation escalated when key community leaders arrived at the scene. Among them were Kunwar Deepak Thakur, the District President of Karni Sena; Vinod Rathore from the Cow Protection Association; and Satyapriya Sharma, the Mandal President of Rashtriya Hindu Mahasabha. Their presence and the slogans they raised underscored the community's growing impatience with the perceived inadequacies of the police response.

As the crowd's unrest grew, CO Faridpur Gaurav Singh arrived at the station to address the community leaders and the victim's family. Following the discussions, the police assured the assembly that a murder case would be officially registered at the Fatehganj East police station by 10 pm. However, despite this assurance, the report was not filed as promised, further fueling the frustration and distrust among the community members.

Final Ordeals and Community Upheaval Following Tragic Incident

In the wake of the tragic death of a local student, the response by the police has been marred by perceived indifference and procedural mismanagement, which has significantly intensified the community's grief and frustration. The bereaved family, caught in a bureaucratic limbo, found themselves shuttling between two police stations, with the deceased student's body in tow, reflecting a grim image of the systemic issues at hand. "Police had no sympathy with the family and they were just trying to avoid the situation, throwing responsibility on others," became a common sentiment among the distressed family members and local residents.

After hours of being passed between the Fatehganj East and Meeranpur Katra police stations without any resolution, the family's patience wore thin. In a desperate plea for attention and action, they placed the student's body on the road, creating a poignant scene of protest. This act of public grief catalyzed the Karni Sena and other community members to intensify their demonstrations, surrounding the police station, demanding justice and accountability from the authorities.

It was under this pressure that the Fatehganj East police finally registered a case and proceeded with the necessary steps to send the body for a post-mortem examination. During this tumultuous time, the student's family members who were present at the station voiced serious allegations against the accused, further highlighting the dire need for a thorough and sensitive handling of the case.

The Accused Also Attacked the Student's Family with a Knife

In Meeranpur Katra, the situation escalated further when an attempt to detain the accused led to violence. "The student's mother told that when an attempt was made to catch the accused, he also attacked her with a knife," illustrating the dangerous and volatile nature of the accused. This incident not only endangered the family but also demonstrated the severe implications of the accused's continued threat.

In the midst of handling the immediate aftermath of the murder, the local railway authorities were also involved. Katra Railway Station Superintendent Mohammad Hanif reported that the loco pilot of a train had alerted them about the incident, which led to temporary disruptions in railway operations. "Then the Champaran Express coming on the up line was stopped at Miranpur Katra railway station. Trains started operating at 11:40 pm," he detailed. The body, unfortunately, lay at the scene for an extended period due to the ongoing jurisdictional dispute, further complicating the response.

The prolonged delay in proper custodial transfer of the body, which did not occur until around 2 o'clock, reflects a critical lapse in coordinated police action and respect for the deceased and her family. Once the body was finally taken into custody, it was sent to Shahjahanpur for post-mortem to advance the investigation process.

In the aftermath, CO Faridpur Gaurav Singh made a statement indicating the next steps: "The student's mother has been asked to submit a complaint. Whatever complaint is received, a case will be registered accordingly." This statement suggests an opening for procedural advancement but also highlights the need for the police to actively facilitate a supportive and responsive legal process for the victim's family.

This sequence of events has not only revealed the deep flaws in local law enforcement's response mechanisms but also ignited a powerful community response demanding justice and systemic reform to prevent such failures in the future.
