In UP’s Siddharthnagar, a Hindu man exposed how college manager Shabbir Ahmed forced him to convert, forged papers, offered ₹20L, and now Congress and Bhim Army extend support to the accused despite police links to a larger Islamic conversion racket

A disturbing case of forced religious conversion has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharthnagar district, where a Hindu man has accused a Muslim college manager of coercion, forgery, and religious manipulation. The accused, Mohammad Shabbir Ahmed, currently under arrest, is the manager of Al Farooq Inter College in Itwa. His victim, Akhand Pratap Singh, has detailed a harrowing account of psychological pressure and document forgery designed to make him appear as a willing convert to Islam.
The incident traces back to 2020-21, when Akhand Pratap Singh sought a job and approached Al Farooq Inter College after learning about a vacancy. Manager Shabbir offered him a monthly salary of ₹15,000 for a clerk position. Singh joined the job, unaware of the storm that would soon follow. Within just over a week of employment, Shabbir called him to his office and took his signature on a blank ₹100 affidavit, allegedly as a duty agreement.
It was only later that the horrifying truth was revealed. Shabbir Ahmed presented Singh with a completed affidavit bearing his signature. To Singh’s shock, the document falsely declared his conversion to Islam. “I declare that I am a Hindu by religion. I am deeply influenced by the teachings of Islam. I believe in the religious beliefs of Islam. I have accepted Islam out of my own free will and without anyone’s pressure. My new Islamic name is Imran Khan,” it read.
This forged declaration was just the beginning of sustained pressure. Shabbir allegedly began criticising Hindu worship practices and constantly insisted that Singh accept Islam. Singh stood firm in his refusal, but the coercion didn’t stop. One day, he received a WhatsApp call from a Maulana based abroad who offered him ₹20 lakh, a house in Gujarat, and a car, provided he converted to Islam. Singh rejected the tempting but troubling offer. Upon learning the full contents of the affidavit, Singh promptly left the job—but Shabbir reportedly continued to pursue him, pressuring him to convert.
Despite quitting, Singh managed to retrieve the forged affidavit from the college—a key piece of evidence in his fight for justice.

Victim Approaches Police and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
Akhand Pratap Singh later revealed that this was not an isolated case. He alleged that Shabbir Ahmed had converted at least 15–16 Hindus to Islam over the years using similar deceitful methods. He even recalled an incident from 2018, where a Yadav Hindu man in the Golhaura police station area was converted by Shabbir—and has been missing ever since. Singh expressed suspicion that other Hindu staff members at the college might also have been quietly converted.
Realizing the magnitude of what he had uncovered, Singh submitted a detailed complaint to the police and also escalated the matter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. His aim: to stop what appears to be an organized conversion operation cloaked under the veil of a legitimate educational institution.
Singh's Complaint Was Initially Dismissed by Police
According to Singh, when he initially tried to lodge a complaint, the police refused to register it. Instead, they told him to send his grievance to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and the Chief Minister. Singh, overwhelmed by Shabbir’s wealth and influence, was hesitant to act earlier. But his confidence grew when police uncovered the Balrampur Islamic conversion racket, a case with links reportedly leading back to Shabbir himself.
Singh further alleged that Shabbir Ahmed’s activities were funded by foreign sources. He claimed that Shabbir had been receiving money from Gulf countries to support his conversion agenda. The funds were not only used for religious conversion efforts but also for operating multiple businesses under the names of others. Singh also shared that Shabbir was once a driver around 15–16 years ago, but had since amassed surprising wealth.
Singh has demanded a full investigation into Shabbir’s properties and bank accounts, believing they could hold the key to understanding the scale of the conversion network. Anil Ojha, the officer in charge of the local police post, confirmed to media that several documents have been seized from the college and are now under scrutiny.

Congress Steps In to Defend Shabbir Ahmed
In a surprising political twist, the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (Legal Department) came forward in Shabbir’s defence. According to an official letter released by the committee, they claim Shabbir has been wrongfully arrested. The Congress team has appointed Advocates Ravindra Singh, Imran Asim Khan, and Sahodar Tripathi to represent Shabbir in the Allahabad High Court.
The party’s stand has raised eyebrows, particularly because the case involves alleged religious coercion and document forgery, triggering debates around vote bank politics and minority appeasement.

Bhim Army’s Chandrashekhar Azad Backs Accused Shabbir
Adding fuel to the fire, Bhim Army Chief Chandrashekhar Azad also lent his support to Shabbir Ahmed. He praised Shabbir as “a symbol of religious education, social harmony, and goodwill,” while claiming that the accusations against him were politically motivated and orchestrated by the ruling party.
Azad further asserted, “In 2020, a complainant who applied for a job at the college was not appointed. Now, in 2025, the same individual is suddenly accusing Maulana of religious conversion—without any new evidence or incident. At the behest of BJP leaders, this person has leveled false and baseless allegations, harassing Maulana Sahib by implicating him in a fabricated case.”
His statement has intensified public debate, with critics accusing Azad and his supporters of turning a blind eye to serious allegations in the name of communal harmony..
