Only days after the killing of Dipu Chandra Das, another disturbing case of mob lynching was reported from rural Bangladesh, once again involving a member of the Hindu minority. Late on 24 December, a violent crowd attacked 29-year-old Amrit Mandal, also known as “Samrat”, in Pangsha Upazila of Rajbari district. Mandal was identified as a Bengali Hindu farmer, and the incident added to growing fears over mob justice and communal tension in the country.

On 24th December, a number of social media handles from Pakistan and Bangladesh, including accounts belonging to well-known journalists, began circulating a video with serious allegations against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The video was presented as footage of CM Yogi speaking inside the Assembly, where he was allegedly seen making aggressive and threatening remarks against Bangladesh and Pakistan.

The violence took place after protests broke out following the death of radical anti-India leader Osman Hadi. What began as demonstrations soon turned into chaos, with anger spilling over into targeted destruction.

Fresh violence in Bangladesh has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of the Hindu minority after a Hindu man was brutally lynched by a mob in the Mymensingh district.

A violent mob attacked the offices of Bangladeshi newspapers Prothom Alo and The Daily Star on the night of 18 December, leaving behind scenes of destruction and fear. Although no journalist or employee was physically injured in the incident, both buildings were vandalised and later set on fire, destroying everything inside. The violence followed the death of Sharif Osman Hadi in Singapore, which occurred a week after he was shot in Dhaka, an event that sparked widespread anger and unrest.

On December 18, in Bhaluka Upazila of Mymensingh district in Bangladesh, a young Hindu garment factory worker named Dipu Chandra Das was brutally lynched by a mob over unverified allegations of blasphemy.
