The confrontation that led to Vaibhav's death was over the refusal to delete a girl's photograph from a mobile phone. The crime culminated with Maz disposing of Vaibhav's body in the Khareli canal. The authorities apprehended Maz and his accomplice after an exchange of gunfire in the Dankaur area.
