In Rajasthan, Hansram Suraj’s body was found in a blue drum with salt over it, while his wife Sunita, three kids and landlord’s son vanished, echoing the Meerut case where Muskan Rastogi and lover Sahil Shukla killed Saurabh Rajput

In Rajasthan’s Khairthal-Tijara district near Alwar, a shocking incident has emerged that mirrors the infamous Meerut drum murder case. Police have recovered the body of a man stuffed inside a blue drum placed on the rooftop of a house. According to a PTI report, the victim’s wife, their three children, and the landlord’s son have all gone missing.
The deceased was identified as Hansram alias Suraj, a native of Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh. For the past one-and-a-half months, he had been staying with his family in Adarsh Colony of Kishangarhbas. Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajendra Singh Nirwan confirmed the discovery on Sunday.

Throat Injury and Salt Found on Body
The gruesome details reveal that the body bore a deep throat injury, inflicted by a sharp weapon. The case came to light only after neighbours complained about a foul smell coming from the rooftop. When police inspected, they found the blue drum and made the horrifying discovery.
“Salt had been put over the body to speed up decomposition,” Nirwan said. This detail indicates a possible attempt to destroy evidence and prevent early detection.
Family and Landlord’s Son Missing
Investigators revealed that Hansram worked at a local brick kiln and stayed in a rented rooftop room. His wife Sunita, along with their three children, has not been seen since Saturday. Adding to the mystery, the landlord’s son Jitendra is also missing.
“The deceased was addicted to liquor and often drank with Jitendra. Since Saturday evening, both Jitendra and Hansram's family have been untraceable,” the DSP added.
The body has been sent for postmortem, and a case has been registered. Police have now launched a large-scale search operation to trace the missing individuals.

Similar Case in Meerut
The crime immediately drew comparisons to another chilling case from Uttar Pradesh. In March this year, police in Meerut uncovered the dismembered body of 35-year-old Saurabh Rajput, sealed inside a cement-filled drum in his Brahmpuri residence.
Rajput had recently returned from London and was living with his wife Muskan Rastogi and their daughter. Investigations revealed that Muskan, along with her lover Sahil Shukla, allegedly plotted and executed the murder on March 4. Police stated that Muskan had drugged her husband’s food, after which Sahil stabbed him with a butcher’s knife and slit his throat. The duo then dismembered the body, cut off his hands, and concealed it in a drum filled with cement and sand.
The case was exposed after Muskan’s mother informed the police about her daughter’s confession. When authorities tried to open the drum at the scene, they failed because the cement had hardened. It was eventually cut open at the mortuary, revealing the gruesome remains.
Police have since filed a chargesheet of more than 1,000 pages against Muskan and Sahil. During a routine medical examination in jail, Muskan was also found to be pregnant, further complicating the case.
