"देर आये दुरुस्त आये": Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran orders a strict internal probe into the shocking sexual harassment and forced religious conversion scandal at TCS Nashik as police extend the custody of arrested HR manager Nida Khan

Mumbai: In a strong response to the deeply troubling events unfolding at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran stepped forward on Monday to address the situation. He openly expressed his dismay, describing the recent reports of sexual harassment at the company's Nashik office as "gravely concerning and anguishing".

Providing direct reassurance to the public and employees alike, Chandrasekaran issued a formal statement to address the crisis. "The complaints and allegations emerging from the Nashik branch of Tata Consultancy Services have been gravely concerning and anguishing," he stated, emphasizing the emotional weight of the situation.
To ensure complete transparency and accountability, the chairman announced that a comprehensive internal investigation is currently underway. This crucial inquiry is being spearheaded by Arathi Subramanian, the Chief Operating Officer of TCS. Her primary objective is to uncover the absolute truth, establish the exact sequence of events, and clearly identify every single individual who bears responsibility for creating this distressing environment.
The situation centers around severe allegations brought forward by eight female employees working at the multinational IT giant's office in Nashik, Maharashtra. These women have bravely come forward to report not only instances of sexual harassment but also alarming attempts at forced religious conversion by their senior colleagues.
Chandrasekaran, who intimately understands the company having previously led TCS as its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director before taking the helm as the Tata Group chairman, made the organization's stance incredibly clear. "This incident is being treated with utmost seriousness. Action has already been initiated against the accused employees, and the company is extending its full cooperation to the ongoing investigations," he assured.
He further reinforced that the massive salts-to-software conglomerate firmly operates on a strict "zero-tolerance policy" when it comes to any type of employee misconduct or coercion in the workplace.

Chandrasekaran promised that there will be appropriate and highly stringent consequences for anyone proven guilty by the investigation. Furthermore, he committed to immediately implementing and strictly enforcing any necessary process improvements or corrective safety measures to prevent such an incident from ever happening again.
The law enforcement response began taking shape last week when the local police established a Special Investigation Team (SIT). This specialized unit was formed specifically to look into the grievances filed by the eight women. According to the victims' claims, they endured continuous mental and sexual harassment from senior staff members, while the human resources department allegedly turned a completely deaf ear to their desperate pleas for help.
Acting on these severe claims, the police initially arrested seven individuals, a number that subsequently rose to eight. Notably, this group of arrested individuals includes the company's own female HR manager.
Addressing the media and the public for the first time regarding the crisis on Sunday, TCS strongly reaffirmed its absolute commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and confirmed that the accused staff members had been officially suspended.
In their official statement, the company noted: "TCS has a long-standing zero-tolerance policy towards harassment and coercion of any form. We have always ensured the highest standards of safety and well-being of our employees at the workplace. As soon as we were made aware of the matter in Nashik, we took swift action,"

TCS Nashik Abuse Investigation: Court Extends Police Custody of Female HR Manager to April 15
Nashik: In the latest legal development surrounding the shocking case, a local Nashik court ruled on Monday to extend the police custody of the IT firm's female human resources manager. She will now remain in custody until April 15 as authorities continue to dig into the disturbing case involving the sexual exploitation and attempted religious conversion of female staff members.
The legal proceedings stem directly from the courage of eight TCS employees who stepped forward to officially allege that they were subjected to severe sexual harassment and forced religious conversion attempts at the hands of their senior colleagues.
As reported earlier this week, the gravity of these accusations prompted the police to assemble a Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT's mandate is to thoroughly investigate the complaints made by the eight women, who detailed how they were mentally and sexually tormented by senior colleagues while the human resources department completely ignored their repeated complaints. The police crackdown has led to the arrest of eight individuals in total, heavily implicating the company’s female HR manager.
During the court proceedings, Assistant Public Prosecutor Aniket Awhad formally requested the extension of the HR manager's remand. He argued his case before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate JV Paliwal, strongly citing the absolute necessity for a more extensive and detailed investigation into the matter to ensure justice is fully served.

The primary accusation leveled against the female HR manager is a severe dereliction of duty; she is accused of deliberately neglecting and dismissing the serious complaints raised by the female victims seeking her professional protection. Prior to this extension, the court had initially remanded her to police custody until April 13 following her arrest.
The authorities have officially identified the other arrested accused in this harrowing case as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Shafi Sheikh, Asif Aftab Ansari, and Nida Khan.
Echoing the sentiments of their corporate leadership, TCS released a statement on Sunday reiterating that the organization has long adopted a strict policy of zero-tolerance regarding any form of coercion or harassment. The company's spokesperson confirmed the immediate suspension of the employees who are allegedly involved in the Nashik office misconduct, noting that they are sidelined pending the outcome of the internal enquiry. The spokesperson concluded by adding that the firm continues to cooperate fully with local law enforcement authorities, and any further disciplinary or legal action will be firmly based on the final conclusions drawn from this ongoing investigation.
