"आज किस साइज के संतरे लाई हो, मोहतरमा": Shocking FIRs expose how Shahrukh and Raza relentlessly harassed Hindu women at the TCS Nashik office, from suggesting an Ajmer maulvi for childbirth to vile sexual abuse and cruel religious insults

As an editor-in-chief, it is my responsibility to shed light on stories that challenge our societal conscience and demand accountability. A workplace should serve as a secure environment for professional development, not a hunting ground where employees are intimidated or degraded. Yet, beneath the polished corporate exterior of a prominent Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) unit in Nashik, Maharashtra, a deeply unsettling reality has recently come to light.
|
Operating out of the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) campus located on Ashoka Marg, the ODC-02 unit—tasked with handling Axis Bank credit card collections via tele-calling—has become the epicenter of a massive investigation. According to recent reports, what began as isolated whispers of discomfort has cascaded into a formal legal reckoning. Over a mere 48-hour period, a series of First Information Reports (FIRs) were registered at the Mumbai Naka Police Station.
These documents outline a harrowing, years-long pattern of sexual harassment, physical misconduct, and religious targeting explicitly aimed at Hindu female employees. At the center of these allegations are five male colleagues: Shahrukh Qureshi, Raza Meman, Asif Ansari, Tausif Attar, and Shafi Sheikh. The complaints, filed by three women—two 23-year-old associates and a 36-year-old Team Leader—paint a picture of a profoundly hostile work culture defined by invasive personal probing, unwanted physical advances, and the mockery of Hindu religious traditions.

Police Report 164/2026: Senior Team Leader Details Years of Unaddressed Harassment
The first of these crucial documents, registered on April 2, 2026, was brought forward by a 36-year-old Hindu woman who had dedicated over 11 years of her career to TCS as a Team Leader. Her testimony exposes a distressing timeline of inaction by higher management. She formally accused Shafi Sheikh of deeply inappropriate behavior that began in 2022. According to her statement, Sheikh would consistently leer at her chest during professional meetings and direct suggestive smirks toward her.
Seeking refuge, she escalated the issue to senior management figures, specifically naming Senior Manager Nitin Kapoor and Team Leader Deepak Singh. However, instead of taking meaningful disciplinary action against the perpetrator, management merely orchestrated a departmental transfer for her. Unfazed by this administrative shuffle, Sheikh allegedly continued to approach her. The complainant noted that multiple female colleagues had also raised verbal complaints about his conduct, pointing to a systemic issue that was repeatedly swept under the rug.
The harassment, however, did not stop with Sheikh. Following a tragic personal loss—a miscarriage in early 2026—the Team Leader stated she was targeted by another colleague, Tausif Attar. She recounted how Attar subjected her to prolonged, uncomfortable stares. In a severe violation of her personal and medical privacy, he repeatedly advised her to contact a “Maulvi in Ajmer”, boldly insisting that a visit to him would “guarantee” successful childbirth.

Police Report 171/2026: Young Employee Details Targeted Harassment, Vulgar Innuendos, and Intimidation
The following day, April 3, 2026, a 23-year-old associate filed a separate complaint highlighting the predatory coordination between two other accused men: Raza Meman and Shahrukh Qureshi. She explained how both individuals would frequently summon her to their desks under the guise of discussing official work. Once there, the conversation would swiftly pivot to invasive inquiries about her private life, specifically fishing for details about romantic relationships within or outside the office.
When she did not engage, the men allegedly resorted to body-shaming, mockingly calling her "too thin" and aggressively suggesting she join a fitness center. The verbal abuse soon escalated into terrifying, suggestive banter. The young woman recalled a chilling moment when Raza turned to Qureshi and explicitly instructed him regarding her, stating, “Isko tere liye ready kar”—a clear implication of grooming her for his colleague's benefit.
The psychological pressure peaked during the Hindu festival of Gudi Padwa on March 19, 2026. On a day meant for celebration, Raza allegedly singled her out publicly. Looking her up and down in a demeaning manner, he mocked her religious customs, questioning whether she had actually performed traditional puja rituals or if she was merely dressing up for the sake of appearances. Qureshi, simultaneously, maintained a relentless campaign of asking her out on dates despite her clear and repeated refusals. Paralyzed by the fear of professional retaliation and the overwhelming dominance these men held on the office floor, she was forced to suffer in silence for months.

Police Report 168/2026: Comprehensive Statement Alleges Physical Abuse, Inappropriate Remarks, and Slurs
The most expansive and disturbing account emerged in a third FIR, filed on April 2, 2026, by a recently married 23-year-old process associate. Her detailed complaint names all five men and outlines an environment where sexual aggression and religious bigotry went hand-in-hand.
Her nightmare began during her initial training period in June 2025. Shahrukh Qureshi and Raza Meman immediately zeroed in on her, subjecting her to an intrusive barrage of questions regarding her recent honeymoon, her past relationships, and her sexual life. They accompanied these invasive questions with veiled threats of public exposure, with Raza going so far as to label her a "player" and insinuating that he could gladly "help" satisfy her while her husband was away.
The complaint takes a darker turn as she details severe physical misconduct by Asif Ansari. She testified that Ansari repeatedly touched her thighs, waist, shoulders, and stomach without consent, forcefully hugged her, and made crude, explicit remarks about her body and attire. In a shocking display of religious intolerance, Ansari also weaponized her faith against her. The FIR directly quotes the victim recounting his horrific rationalization of sexual violence:
“Asif Ansari told me that because you people don’t wear a burqa in your religion, rapes happen… Your gods roam naked (ugde nagde firtat), how do you even like such gods?”
The other accused played their own roles in this coordinated torment. Tausif Attar misused his position during training sessions to force physical proximity, purposefully touching his cheek to hers while whispering sexually suggestive comments. Shafi Sheikh engaged in aggressive intimidation tactics, repeatedly circling her workstation while leering at her. During the Gudi Padwa celebrations, Raza Meman physically pulled the pallu of her saree, while Attar and Ansari cheered him on with obscene remarks. Fearing the loss of her livelihood, the young woman endured this severe mental and physical trauma in silence for as long as she could.
Because of the severity of these allegations, law enforcement has invoked serious legal provisions. All three FIRs charge the accused under Sections 74, 75, 79, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of a woman. Notably, FIR 168 is so severe that it additionally incorporates Sections 299 and 302 into its formal listing.

External Accomplices: The Role of Relatives in Manipulating and Pressuring Female Hindu Staff Members
Investigative details reveal that the harassment network extended far beyond the office floor, looping in external family members to aid in the manipulation and potential religious conversion of vulnerable employees.
A stark example involves an accused named Danish, who deliberately targeted a Dalit Hindu woman pursuing her BCA degree. Promising her lucrative career advancements, Danish successfully lured her into a trap. Under the guise of romantic affection, he systematically groomed and physically exploited her.
The deception deepened when it was revealed that Danish was already a married man with two children. Rather than putting an end to the affair, his wife, Mahirin, actively participated in the grooming process. Acting as an accomplice, Mahirin focused on converting the young student to Islam. She continuously bombarded the victim with religious instructional videos featuring Islamic clerics, teaching her how to fast for roza, how to break the fast, how to perform wuzu (purification), how to read the Quran, the proper way to wear a hijab, and disturbingly, specific lessons on how to please men.

"We Are Better Than Your Husband: Come Out With Us": How A Group of Male Coworkers Systematically Targeted and Harassed a Newly Married Employee in the Office
The predatory tactics were not reserved solely for unmarried women; newlywed employees were equally, if not more, targeted by the group. The case of a brave young woman—whom we will refer to as Shruti to protect her identity—serves as a masterclass in how these individuals sought to dismantle the personal lives of their victims.
Shruti joined the Nashik office in November 2025. Her husband lived in Pune, a fact that Shahrukh, Asif, and Raza Memon quickly learned and exploited. What followed was a calculated, 15-step campaign of psychological and physical harassment:
- During her initial training, Raza—who had no official supervisory role over her—would approach her desk to interrogate her about her husband's whereabouts, prodding her about whether she felt lonely or worried managing things by herself.
- Crossing the line of professionalism, Raza directly asked: “It’s just been a month since you got married. Where did you go for your honeymoon? What did you do there?”
- Shahrukh pried into the nature of her marriage, asking if it was arranged or out of love. Raza then boldly offered: “If you are not happy with your husband, tell us. We will tell you what to do and how to do it.”
- Attempting to ruin her reputation, they labeled her a "player" around the office, constantly taunting her with the question: “You must have had many boyfriends. How did you manage to leave them?”
- They continuously sowed seeds of doubt regarding her marriage, questioning how her husband could abandon her so soon after their wedding, insisting that if they were in his shoes, they never would have left her alone.
- The harassment soon turned physical. Asif would casually sit beside her, touching her personal belongings and grazing her shoulders. In one deeply violating instance, he touched her stomach and casually degraded her body by saying: “You have zero figure.”
- On another occasion, Asif forcibly hugged her in the middle of the office, prompting her to physically push him away.
- Unbothered by her rejection, Asif would frequently ask intrusive questions about her undergarment sizes, inquiring if she would ever be intimate with someone else, specifically him, and asking how much she liked him.
- Escalating his advances, Asif demanded: “I am better than your husband. Come out with me, no one will ever know about it.”
- In a shocking display of audacity, which echoed the very title of these complaints ("Your husband is not here. If you have any physical needs, we will fulfill them"), Asif explicitly propositioned her: “If you did not have a boyfriend before marriage, have one now. What’s the problem? If you have any physical needs, I will fulfill them.”
- He would sit intimately close to her, place his hand on her thighs, and command: “Just like you cook food for your husband, cook for me.”
- The sexualization of her traditional attire was constant. On Diwali, he specifically requested she wear a saree so he could look at her. When she obliged, he approached her to comment that her blouse design was excellent and noted that if the lace were removed, the "show" would be entirely visible.
- Blending sexual harassment with religious bigotry, Asif callously remarked: “Hindu girls get raped because they don’t wear hijab.”
- Meanwhile, Tausif subjected her to daily vulgarities, asking: “What size of oranges have you brought?” While supposedly training her on the dialing software, he would press his cheek against hers. When she fought back, he coldly manipulated the situation, asking: “Don’t you want me to go ahead? Don’t you like my teachings?”
Summarizing their objectifying worldview, Asif cornered her, stepped uncomfortably close, and declared: “Your husband married you because you are so beautiful. Now I will also see what’s beautiful in you”.

A Highly Toxic Office Environment: Treating Young Female Colleagues as Personal Property
This sense of entitlement—treating female colleagues as 'Maal-e-Ghanimat' (spoils of war) or personal property—was a recurring theme. A 23-year-old employee, whom we will call Deepika, faced a similar onslaught that systematically stripped away her workplace dignity.
Shahrukh would intentionally summon Deepika to his desk under the guise of pending assignments, only to seamlessly transition into an interrogation about her family and romantic life. He relentlessly peppered her with questions: “Do you have a boyfriend?”, “Do you like anyone in the office?”, “Did anyone approach you?”, and “How many boyfriends do you have?” Soon, Raza joined the harassment campaign. The two men would double-team her, brazenly commenting on her physique. They would routinely tell her: “You are so thin, you should go to the gym.” As the harassment intensified, they would loudly discuss her relationship status, concluding with the predatory mutual agreement: “Let’s get her ready for a man.”
The cultural humiliation reached its peak on Gudi Padwa. When Deepika arrived at the office in a new traditional dress with her hair left open, Raza publicly humiliated her in front of the entire floor, mocking her religious observance by shouting: “Wasn’t your festival at home?” Taking advantage of the fact that her parents lived out of town, Shahrukh constantly pressured her to go for evening walks with him. The men made obscene gestures, openly discussed explicit topics in her presence, and gossiped about her private life. Though she desperately wanted to report them, the political reality of the office stopped her; Shahrukh, Raza, and Shafi were perceived as highly connected and dominant figures within the company hierarchy.

Manipulative Tactics: The Step-by-Step Approach Used to Isolate Victims
To truly understand how this ecosystem of abuse functioned, one must look at the step-by-step grooming tactics employed against new hires. The testimony of 23-year-old Ritika Chawla (name changed, surname retained), who filed FIR 169/2026 on April 2, 2026, provides a chilling roadmap of this manipulation.
In her formal complaint to the police, Ritika outlined her role and the immediate onset of the harassment: “I am currently working as an Associate in the team of Team Leader Raza Memon. The nature of my work is to call and provide information to Axis Bank outstanding auto loan holders through tele-calling and my work is done from the ODC 02 department.”
She detailed how the sabotage of her professional boundaries began from day one: “I joined TCS in January 2025. At that time, Shahrukh Qureshi was the one who trained me, but Shahrukh was not giving us systematic training. At that time, Shahrukh had asked his friend Shafi Sheikh to train us.”“While Shafi was training me, he asked about my personal life instead of talking about work, that was the first time I talked to him. But later he started asking about my personal life repeatedly.” Despite setting clear verbal boundaries, her requests for professionalism were blatantly ignored. “I told Shafi that I did not want to talk about my personal life with you. Even after saying that, he repeatedly talked to me about my family, my mother’s illness, when I go and come home, did I eat, did I sleep.”
The questions rapidly devolved into sexual probing. “Also, ‘Do you have a boyfriend? If you do not have a boyfriend, then you must have an ex-boyfriend. Have you had physical relations with your boyfriend?’ He was asking me such private things.”“While Shafi was in the office, he came very close to me and asked me obscene things about my private life, which made me feel ashamed.” Ritika's isolation grew as the predatory behavior intensified. “I was very scared at that time because Shafi always came close to me and did such things. I had also requested Shafi not to talk to me like that at that time. But there was no improvement in him. When I was working in the office, he would always come close to me and forcefully talk about my private life, but I ignored him and did my work. But because of his behaviour, I was under a lot of stress. I didn’t even know who to complain to.”
The breaking point arrived a few months later. “Meanwhile, in August 2025, while I was working in the office, I was sitting alone in the canteen on the second floor for a break when Shafi came to me and said to me, ‘I really like you, you can be my girlfriend.’ I was very shocked. I came to my office scared and sat on the chair crying. At that time, Shafi came close to me again and was trying to talk to me, but I refused him. Even then, he was trying to talk to me; when I ignored him, he left the place near me. I was very embarrassed when Shafi proposed to me, but even then, I ignored him and I refused to talk to Shafi by telling him that I didn’t like these things and reduced my conversations with him. But even when Shafi tried to talk to me about some topic, I tried to ignore him and I was in a lot of mental stress.”
Stalking and public humiliation became his tools of coercion. “On this day, December 9, 2025, I was at work in my office as usual. In the evening, while I was going home from work, Shafi came close to me and said, ‘If you don’t go to the office, I won’t go either.’ At that time, Devendra Nakka and Magesh Tangde were also in the office. I felt ashamed because he said this about me in front of people in the office. After the above incident, when I came to the office the next day, I complained to our team leader Raza Memon that Shafi repeatedly approaches me, and he has proposed to me when I don’t want to, and he approaches me when I don’t want to, and when I am alone in the office, he says, ‘If you don’t go to the office, I won’t go either.’ At that time, Raza Memon called Shafi and me to the office cabin and discussed it and told us to go to work, saying that Shafi would not do it again. At that time, Raza Memon should have taken action against him after I complained, but he ignored it.”
Rather than protecting her, Team Leader Raza Memon weaponized her complaint to gain access to her himself. “After I complained against Shafi, Shafi and Shahrukh started targeting me from that time. After Shafi, our team leader Raza Memon also tried to talk to me in his training room and talk about my personal life without any reason, leaving aside work matters. Since Raza Memon was my team leader, I had to talk to him. But Raza Memon took advantage of being the team leader and started talking to me about my personal life. He was talking about things like do you have a boyfriend, do you go for walks, who is at home? But I ignored this and was concentrating on my work.”
The men then began sharing her sensitive medical information. “One day, Raza Memon called me to the office and asked me if I was suffering from PCOD. Then I felt surprised. I asked Raza Memon how he knew so much about me and who told him about it, but he did not tell me anything at that time. Then I came to know that only Shafi knew about my PCOD problem. When Shafi must have told him many things about my personal life, I got suspicious and even started feeling sure.”“Both Shafi and Raza Memon used to talk to me when I did not want to forcefully, and they were also keeping an eye on me. Due to this, I started feeling unsafe in the office. Because I had complained about Shafi before, but no action was taken on my complaint. Since I suffer from PCOD, I have hair on my chin and it is visible. Raza Memon used to tell me many times about my body in the office, ‘Do a little facial, you will look good, go to the gym, stay fit.’ Due to this, I used to feel ashamed from time to time.”“Also, I felt that Raza Memon was trying to touch me by coming close to me and talking to me. I did not know to whom to complain against both Shafi and Raza. Because they had a hold in our office. Because I was sure that no action would be taken against them after I complained, I did not file a complaint at that time.”
Ritika concluded her devastating testimony with a grim summary of her tenure: “From January 2025 till now, while working in the TCS office, Shafi Sheikh and Raza Memon used to contact me to talk about my private life and have physical intimacy with me even though I did not want to. Shafi proposed to me, and Raza Memon made obscene remarks about my body and also tried to touch me.”
As more victims found their voice, the scale of the operation widened. Authorities uncovered horrifying suspected links to international trafficking, where female employees were allegedly promised lucrative placements in Malaysia by an individual identified as Imran, only to have their original travel and educational documents confiscated.
To tackle the sheer volume and severity of these claims, the Maharashtra Police constituted a high-level Special Investigation Team (SIT). Swift action resulted in the arrests of Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, Asif Ansari, Shafi Sheikh, and a corporate official named Ashwini Chanani, while another key figure, Nida Khan, remains absconding.

A Clear Pattern of Deep Systemic Failure
What initially seemed like a singular grievance has exploded into a massive corporate and criminal scandal, with nine official police reports lodged between late March and early April. The rapid emergence of these FIRs—particularly three within a single 48-hour window—highlights a catastrophic breakdown of internal human resource protocols and corporate governance.
The testimonies of these courageous women prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the persistent sexual misconduct, inappropriate religious slurs, and psychological abuse were not the actions of a few rogue employees acting in isolation. Rather, they were the symptoms of a deeply entrenched, highly toxic office culture that was allowed to thrive unchecked, protected by managerial indifference and systemic silence. As the SIT continues its rigorous probe, the corporate world watches closely, awaiting justice for the women whose dignity was routinely sacrificed on the office floor.
