"Connected to handlers based in Pakistan": Following massive riots in Noida that left forty people wounded, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Minister Rajbhar launched an intense probe into Naxal and Pakistan links as police arrested 350 men

The bustling industrial hub of Noida was abruptly brought to its knees on Monday, April 13th, as what initially appeared to be a massive worker agitation over wages quickly spiraled into widespread violence, rampant vandalism, and arson. The entire city ground to a halt as the situation rapidly deteriorated. However, as the dust begins to settle, authorities are uncovering deeply concerning evidence that suggests the chaos was not merely a spontaneous outburst by disgruntled workers.

Investigators are pointing toward a much larger, sinister conspiracy orchestrated by outside elements. A comprehensive, multi-agency investigation is currently underway to probe a disturbing web of suspected connections, which range from highly organized digital disinformation campaigns to coordinated attempts at sparking unrest that may be financially or logistically supported by handlers in Pakistan, along with a potential resurgence of the Naxalite movement.
In a massive crackdown aimed at restoring order and bringing the perpetrators to justice, law enforcement has taken approximately 350 individuals into police custody for their direct involvement in the arson and vandalism that plagued the city. Furthermore, over 100 additional suspects have been detained and are currently undergoing intensive interrogation. To accurately pinpoint the individuals responsible for spearheading this violent disruption, investigating teams are meticulously analyzing hours of CCTV surveillance footage recovered from various factories across the industrial belt. Digital communications are also under heavy scrutiny, with authorities carefully examining numerous WhatsApp groups used to mobilize crowds. The human toll of the day's tragic events was significant, leaving at least 10 police officers and 30 civilians nursing various injuries.
Providing a broader context to the sudden eruption of violence, Uttar Pradesh Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar offered a sobering assessment of the situation. He linked the local unrest to broader national security concerns, explicitly mentioning recent counter-terrorism operations.
“The incident appears to have been carried out with the intention of disrupting the development and law and order of the state. In recent days, four suspected terrorists have been arrested from Meerut and Noida, whose links were connected to handlers based in Pakistan. In such a situation, the possibility of a conspiracy to create instability in the state gains strength. Agencies are seriously investigating the entire matter,” Rajbhar stated.

The minister further voiced deep concerns that organized "anti-national forces" are actively working to sow the seeds of instability within Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted a strong suspicion that Monday's manufactured chaos was strategically timed and planned to actively interfere with an important program being attended by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the city of Muzaffarnagar earlier that same day. Appealing directly to the public and the labor force, Rajbhar urged citizens to remain calm and discerning.
“They should not fall prey to any misleading information or provocation and must maintain peace. Chaos and aggressive protests are not a solution to any problem. The government is ready to listen to every concern of the workers,” he assured.
The gravity of the situation was echoed at the highest levels of the state government. During a crucial high-level security meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the alarming intelligence reports regarding the nature of the riots. As reported by The Times of India, the Chief Minister warned of subversive elements utilizing the genuine grievances of workers as a smokescreen.
“Naxalism is at the point of elimination but attempts to revive it could be part of a larger conspiracy. Some protests may have involved misleading and disruptive elements,” CM Yogi stated.
To prevent further exploitation of the labor force, the Chief Minister emphatically instructed that only recognized, "genuine workers" should be allowed a seat at the table during upcoming wage negotiations. He warned that outside agitators routinely attempt to hijack these grassroots movements by falsely portraying themselves as legitimate labor leaders. Concluding his directives, he ordered top officials to maintain a posture of strict vigilance, drastically strengthen intelligence-gathering networks across all industrial zones, and enforce the harshest legal precautions against anyone found contributing to the public havoc.

Law Enforcement Response Following Widespread Area Disturbances
As the situation cautiously stabilizes under a heavy security presence, authorities have officially registered 9 First Information Reports (FIRs) in connection with the widespread violence that plagued multiple industrial sectors. According to the police, several key individuals have already been captured. Notably, the legal action targets both the physical and digital instigators: two of the FIRs have been specifically filed against social media accounts that were actively propagating malicious misinformation, while the remaining seven target unidentified individuals who physically participated in the violence. Investigators are actively probing the specific roles played by the arrested individuals and working to unearth any coordinated ploys aimed at state destabilization.
Shedding light on the specific timeline of the escalation, Gautam Buddh Nagar Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh explained how the violence was deliberately sparked only after the initial, legitimate protests had concluded.
“After the labourers dispersed peacefully, a group from outside the district arrived in the areas bordering neighbouring districts. They moved around attempting to incite tension and provoke violence. We have taken some members of this group into custody, and we are identifying the remaining individuals to initiate appropriate action against them,” Commissioner Singh informed.
The sheer scale of the mobilization was staggering. Police records estimate that a massive crowd of 40,000 to 45,000 workers, hailing from a variety of different industries, had congregated across more than 80 distinct locations throughout the police commissionerate. This unprecedented gathering created extensive commotion and logistical nightmares. Tensions ultimately reached a boiling point in Sector-63 and the areas immediately surrounding the Motherson corporate grounds, where severe instances of arson, stone-throwing, and blatant vandalism were officially recorded. Law enforcement officials noted that clearly "unruly" fringe groups expertly exploited the tense atmosphere to drastically exacerbate the trouble.

It is important to note that the vast majority of the day's demonstrations were successfully managed through open conversation and remained largely peaceful. However, the situation deteriorated rapidly in a few specific pockets, particularly near major industrial units like Motherson located in Phase-2. Here, police reported that a subset of participants turned highly violent. On-the-ground officers detailed how multiple rioters physically scaled the high boundary walls of factories and brazenly utilized heavy tools to slice through perimeter wire fencing. These initial instigators were quickly reinforced by significantly larger crowds, a development that inevitably led to intense stone-pelting and necessitated the deployment of moderate force by responding police personnel.
The epicenter of the destruction was localized within Sector 62 and Phase-2. In these areas, accused rioters—armed dangerously with wooden clubs, heavy sticks, and leather belts—ran completely wild through the streets. They mercilessly shattered the large glass facades of numerous manufacturing units, inflicted heavy damage on local businesses, and resorted to setting civilian vehicles ablaze. Horrified witnesses recounted seeing four to five automobiles completely torched outside a commercial service center situated in Sector 63. Throughout the course of the chaotic day, at least a dozen vehicles, tragically including marked police cars, met a similar fiery fate, while surrounding structures were thoroughly vandalized.
As the afternoon wore on, countless locations reported the systematic destruction of expensive industrial property alongside relentless stone-throwing directed at anti-riot police units. The authorities confirmed two massive, isolated arson occurrences that required the combined, urgent efforts of local police units and municipal fire services to finally bring under control. The sheer scale of the damage became apparent by late evening: rogue perpetrators had severely defaced and hurled stones at an astonishing 500-plus industrial facilities. Furthermore, the local police station in Sector 63 was targeted and attacked. In total, the mobs succeeded in completely burning more than 20 vehicles and extensively damaging several others before order was restored.
A major challenge for law enforcement throughout the crisis was the weaponization of false information, which officials categorically pointed out severely worsened the situation on the ground. Consequently, FIRs were swiftly filed against rogue social media users, specifically targeting those malicious individuals who deliberately manufactured false, inflammatory claims regarding civilian injuries and deaths during the clashes. The digital investigation revealed a highly coordinated cyber effort; police discovered that over 50 bot accounts had been freshly created in a single day with the sole purpose of disseminating false information to fuel the riots. The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) has been immediately tasked with hunting down the digital footprints of these accounts to expose any potential cross-border or internal collaboration. In the face of widespread rumors, senior officials also firmly and publicly refuted any reports alleging that police personnel had opened fire at any point amid the protests. To successfully retake the streets and restore a sense of safety, the government was forced to deploy an overwhelming force of approximately 3,000 police officers, heavily supported by administrative response teams and emergency fire services.
Despite the violence, the state government maintains its commitment to addressing the root cause of the initial, peaceful agitation. Highlighting this supportive approach, Labour Minister Rajbhar emphasized the state's proactive outreach.
“On the instructions of the chief minister, senior officials have been sent to Noida. They are directly interacting with workers and trying to resolve their issues. Workers have played an important role in the development of Uttar Pradesh, and the government is fully committed to their welfare. By implementing the resolve of ‘Shramev Jayate’ on the ground, we are continuously working for their well-being,” Rajbhar declared.
In a significant diplomatic move aimed at permanently easing the lingering tensions, the state administration officially announced that it has agreed to formally accept four of the five primary demands presented by the labor workforce. To ensure the final point of contention is handled fairly and comprehensively, a powerful, dedicated committee has been established to thoroughly negotiate and resolve the remaining concerns.
