Bengaluru: Irfan Khan Arrested for Kidnapping, Raping, and Murdering a 4-Year-Old Girl

On the 23rd of July, law enforcement officers detained a man in Goripalya on grave accusations involving the kidnapping, rape, and eventual murder of a 4-year-old minor girl. This horrific incident took place on the 20th of July, with the victim's body being callously left beside the road in Thippagondanahalli, under the jurisdiction of the Magadi police station in the Ramanagara district.

The perpetrator has been identified as 34-year-old Irfan Khan from Kengeri, who is employed as a laborer in Kalasipalya, Bengaluru. Known to often visit the residence of the victim, Khan’s relationship to her was familial, as he was a relative of her father.

The victim, tragically lost to this brutal act, was Saif Ali Khan’s daughter, Zaiba Khanam, aged 4. The accused, Irfan Khan, is related to the victim's father, establishing a familial connection that makes the crime even more appalling.

Irfan Khan allegedly lured the young girl child away by promising to buy her ice cream after visiting her at home. This heinous crime unfolded near Old Masjid Mohalla Road within the jurisdiction of the Magadi Town police station in Ramanagara. Her partially nude body was tragically discovered next to some shrubs on Tippagondanahalli Road.

The victim's parents started a frantic search when she failed to return home by evening. Their investigation revealed that the perpetrator had been seen at a store with her earlier. When approached, he feigned ignorance about her whereabouts and subsequently turned off his phone after the worried family contacted him. This prompted the family to alert the authorities, who then filed a missing person's report. The investigation quickly gained traction as police received CCTV footage and followed up on technical leads, which showed the minor girl traveling along Thippagondahalli Road with Khan. It was not long before they discovered her body abandoned on the roadside.

Following the leads, including those from CCTV footage, law enforcement officers were able to locate and arrest Irfan Khan in Kalasipalya, Bengaluru, as reported by IE. The swift police action brought the accused to justice, but the community remains shaken by the brutal nature of the crime.

The police conducted a thorough search operation which led to the recovery of her body and the location of Irfan Khan, who had attempted to evade capture by going into hiding. The postmortem examination revealed that she had been sexually assaulted, a grim detail confirmed by a police official. Khan, known to the authorities as a habitual offender, had previous arrests for pickpocketing.

A police officer noted that the accused was a regular visitor at the victim’s home and worked as a daily-wage laborer. His criminal record included prior arrests in cases of pickpocketing, highlighting his troubling background.

In response to these tragic events, the authorities have taken decisive action. Based on a complaint filed by the girl's father, they have charged the accused with abduction and murder, and have also invoked the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against him. The case is currently under active investigation, as the legal process seeks justice for the heinous crimes committed.

In the aftermath of the arrest, the community of Magadi, along with the victim's family, has been deeply affected. They organized a mass protest rally, where a large number of residents and family members participated, calling for severe penalties for Khan. This strong public response underscores the community's demand for justice and their collective condemnation of the violence.
