BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar exposes Love Jihad in Ghaziabad as 18-year-old Hindu youth Ujjwal trapped by 32-year-old Mariam, converted in Hyderabad, and married illegally

A fresh storm has risen in western Uttar Pradesh after Loni BJP MLA Nand Kishore Gurjar exposed what he called a dangerous case of Love Jihad. He alleged that a young Hindu boy was trapped, converted, and forced into marriage with an Islamist woman nearly twice his age. The boy’s mother has filed a complaint against four people, including the woman at the centre of the case. Police have now registered the matter and begun a formal probe.

As reported by Jagran, the complaint says Ujjwal (18), the only son of Ramesh and Kiran from Rampark Colony, Ghaziabad, was systematically brainwashed and pushed into religious conversion. MLA Gurjar claimed that this was not a small, isolated affair. Instead, he suspects the hand of a larger organised network working in the region, targeting Hindu youth through deception. He demanded that the government and police carry out a deep investigation to uncover the truth.
Kiran, Ujjwal’s mother, shared that her son worked as a computer operator in Hasanpur Mussoorie village, Khekra. During his computer training in Loni, he met Mariam (32), a divorcee from the same area. Soon after meeting her, Ujjwal’s lifestyle and behaviour began changing. He would often disappear for many days, claiming he had gone to Gurugram for work. He came home only once in 10–15 days, which raised suspicion within the family.
Further inquiry by the family revealed that Ujjwal had been staying on rent with Mariam in NBCC Colony, Hasanpur Mussoorie, after allegedly marrying her. When the family confronted the matter, Mariam’s father, Abid, produced documents of marriage before the police and insisted that Ujjwal had already converted to Islam in Hyderabad. According to him, Ujjwal had adopted the new name Ruhaan, and on July 11 he solemnised a Nikah with Mariam in a mosque.
But Kiran has strongly opposed this version, saying her son is still a minor and was manipulated and trapped. She has lodged a case against Abid, Mariam, and Abid’s two sons, Zuhair and Danish, accusing them of coercion, religious conversion, and conducting an unlawful marriage. The Tronica City police have filed the case and are investigating the charges.
MLA Gurjar personally accompanied the victim’s family to the police station. He told reporters that this was not a lone case but part of a growing racket of conversions, a racket that targets Hindu families and destroys the lives of young boys and girls. He demanded strict action by the administration.
This case also sheds light on the growing fear of Love Jihad in Bharat. The term Love Jihad is used for situations where radical Islamist groups are accused of trapping Hindu boys and girls into relationships with the hidden aim of religious conversion. While earlier cases, such as the busting of Maulana Jalaluddin’s syndicate in Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand, mainly targeted Hindu girls, this case is different. Here, even a Hindu boy, barely 18 years old, has allegedly been trapped, converted, and married off.
The pattern reveals a deeper plan: targeting vulnerable Hindu youth, exploiting their inexperience, and using emotional and psychological manipulation to carry out forced conversions and illegal marriages. It is seen as a warning sign for Hindu society to remain cautious and united against such organised attempts, which threaten both community security and the cultural future of Hindus.
