Halal restaurant in Kerala found storing food items in the toilet, doctor thrashed for filming it

Authorities in Kerala found KC Halal restaurant in Kannur was stocking food materials inside the toilet.

Dr. Subburayan, attached to the Kasaragod Public Health Center (PHC), and other officials who took videos of the incident were thrashed by the owner of the eatery Mohammad Moideen (28), his sister Sameena (29), and a security guard T. Dasan. The food joint had no licenses and had been closed earlier too for a week after food inspectors found stale food.

On Sunday, the doctor and 31 others, including his staff and family members working at the PHC, discovered the dirty conditions after eating at the restaurant. Moideen found out that the doctor had shot videos, confronted him, and snatched his mobile phone. He then threatened the group that no one would leave the place alive.

The hotel owner and his gang beat the doctor and his group even after they offered to delete the videos.

Moideen and his staff thrashed the doctor when others in the group contacted the police. Pariyaram police inspector VK Babu arrived and arrested the accused based on a complaint filed by Subburayan. A case was registered under various sections, including theft.

The incident happened around 10 am while the team from Kasargod had gone for an outing to Kannur. They found a lady cook at the hotel using the toilet and food and vegetables stored in the toilet next door. They moved closer and found that they had stored rice and vegetables inside the filthy toilet.

Later, the food and safety department inspected the premises and closed down the restaurant. Food Safety Assistant Commissioner T.S. Vinod Kumar said they carried out the investigation based on the doctor’s complaint.

He added that they found stale milk, fruits, and pulses stored inside the toilet and that the eatery was functioning in an unhygienic condition.

Hotel authorities were asked to produce the license, but they had none. Panchayat authorities said that the hotel was closed for a week based on an earlier complaint, but it reopened after a while.

This incident comes at a time when a 16-year-old Devananda died due to food poisoning from eating Shawarma from a similar hotel in Kasargod just a few days back.

The halal mafia is so entrenched that Hindus have no other options, especially while traveling.

The Kerala government is busy appeasing these jihadis and only acts when serious complaints arise against such criminals. Though those arrested were remanded to two weeks of judicial custody, the health authorities asked the hotel to shut down for just one week.
