On October 18, 2019, Kamlesh Tiwari was brutally murdered in his own house in Khurshidbagh of Lucknow by two attackers dressed in saffron robes. The heinous murder was very similar to that of the tailor Kanhaiya Lal Teli who was beheaded in Udaipur, Rajasthan, on June 28, 2022.

Mohammedans accused both killed of blasphemy. On 22nd June 2022, three years after Kamlesh Tiwari’s murder, his wife Kiran Tiwari got an intimidating letter written in Urdu. Through this letter, Kiran Tiwari received a warning that she too will be killed just like her husband.

Mrudul Tiwari, the younger son of the late Kamlesh Tiwari, revealed, “We did not know when the threatening letter came as there were quite a few letters already in the office. But this one was one of them. One day, when our office in charge opened the letters and started reading them, and the threat letter was discovered. This is a letter written in Urdu, which when translated, was found out that there is a threat to the mother, Kiran Tiwari. In this same letter, the face of Yogiji (Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister) had a cross marked on it.”

Mrudul Tiwari continued, “As soon as we got the letter, we immediately informed the administration about it. After which, the police tightened the security measures provided at our house. Earlier, four policemen were deployed in the security of the house, but now the number has increased to six. There is already one gunman for the security of the mother. He accompanies our mother wherever she goes.”

The prime conspirator is still absconding

Mrudul Tiwari added, “I am a student in intermediate college, and we are three brothers. The eldest one is studying LLB, and the other one is also studying. Of all 13 accused who were arrested in my father’s murder case, five out of the accused have gotten bail. It also includes Maulana Kaifi of Bareilly. One of the prime accused, Tanvir Hashmi, has not been caught since the incident, who is actually the mastermind of the conspiracy. It has been learned that he has fled to Nepal.”

The government promised a lot but delivered nothing

Mrudul Tiwari further said, “The government had promised a government job to one of our family members. And in fact, the District Magistrate of Sitapur gave this in writing, but even after three years, no one has received a job. We need this job for our elder brother. Also, there was an assurance to run the case of our father’s assassination (Kamlesh Tiwari) in the fast track court, but this never happened. Then there was this promise to give an arms license to our mother, and like all other assurances, this promise also has not been met so far. In the name of help, 15 lakh rupees were received from the government, and now that fund is only being used for our education, household expenses, daily chores, and also on fighting the case in court to get justice for our father.”

Mrudul Tiwari asserted, “My father’s blood is in my veins, and I will take his mission ahead, and will work for the good cause of Hinduism.”

The Supreme Court transferred the case on demand of the murder accused

Kiran Tiwari, the wife of late Kamlesh Tiwari, said, “Supreme Court transferred the case from Lucknow to Prayagraj on killers demand while the accused those are arrested are still lodged here in Lucknow prison. These killers were citing the issue of their safety in Lucknow. This is very surprising, that those who can come to Lucknow from Gujarat to commit a murder are afraid of fighting the case in Lucknow and the Supreme Court simply accepted this. Now I have to go to Prayagraj, 200 km away from Lucknow, on every date at my own expense. During this time, there is only one gunman with me. With a waste of money, this is also absolutely a compromise on my security for the whole day.”

Kiran Tiwari further said, “Mahmood Pracha, the Supreme Court lawyer got the killers’ case transferred to Prayagraj and is considered a very influential lawyer. In Prayagraj court, usually, there are only two to three lawyers during the hearing on our behalf while dozens of lawyers stand in line to argue for the killers, and shockingly many among those dozens of lawyers are Hindus themselves. It really hurts a lot to see this. The reality is that the killers' side has a lot more money whereas we are financially weak.”

Kiran Tiwari told, “If the case had been in the fast track court as promised, the killers might have been punished by now, but for now, I’m just getting one date after the other, and if this only continues, then we’ll have to fight the case for next 50 years. There has been no witness yet. fifteen lakh rupees given by the government will finish soon. No one from the family has even got a job as promised. We also got an order from the High Court one month ago to get a job. The order says that we should be given the job within two months. But we don’t know when will anything happen.”

‘They spit on our posters’

Kamlesh Tiwari’s office in charge Vishal Gupta said, “I have been coming to Kamlesh Tiwari Ji’s office since I was 14, and I myself live in Maulvi Ganj, a Muslim-dominated area of Lucknow. Some people spit on the banner posters we put up there. After Nupur Sharma’s case appeared in the news, the people of my locality had put up a WhatsApp status demanding to behead. The government should take care of us. Even if the police increase patrolling in our area, it will be a great relief for us.”
