Massive quantities of swords and khukris ordered online using fake ID

Shaikh Abrar Shaikh Jamil alias Shahrukh has been taken into custody by the Aurangabad (Sambhajinagar) police after a huge haul comprising 31 swords and a khukri was recovered by the police.

The weapons had been ordered through DTDC courier using faking name and address. Kranti Chowk Inspector Dr. GS Darade informed the press of the haul on Sunday night.

21-year-old Jamil, a resident of Begumpura’s Jaisinghpura Road, is said to have faked his identity and purchased a SIM card. As per the police, he used the name Shaikh Raju and the fake address Nina Fashion Hall to fake his identity. Jamil purchased 10 swords using the fake identity reported by Loksatta.

Tarun Bharat’s report says that Kranti Chowk police have seized three swords. During the police interrogation, he revealed that he sold two swords and retained one at home and also admitted to having purchased swords earlier too.

While one sword was recovered from Jamil’s residence, one each was recovered from Ubaid Shaikh Nasir and Danish Khan Abdul Samad Khan. Darade informed that the other two have also been arrested.

A similar huge haul of weapons was seized from the courier company last week creating a huge sensation in the city.

These constant instances of swords being recovered by the police have raised some very serious and pertinent questions. Questions are being raised as to why such huge hauls of swords are continuously reaching Aurangabad alone and how and from where are these swords being brought into the city.

It must be pointed out that police had seized large quantities of weapons from courier companies on two earlier occasions as well.

It is bound to be an uphill task for the police to investigate why such large quantities of swords are being brought into the city. Earlier, crime branch officials had taken two persons into custody for ordering swords online.
