The Horrifying Act in Delhi: A Child's Life Snuffed Out in Cold Blood by a Trusted Adult

In a deeply unsettling incident that has sent chills down the spine of Delhi's residents, an 11-year-old boy was ruthlessly murdered in his sleep by a woman who was supposed to be a trusted figure in his life. The merciless act, dripping with a vile blend of cruelty and deceit, was committed by none other than the live-in partner of the boy's father.

As dawn broke on the 15th of August, Delhi Police Crime Branch apprehended a 24-year-old woman, Pooja Kumari, in connection with the gruesome act. The reason for her heinous crime? She saw the innocent child as an impediment to her relationship with his father, Jitender. "A hurdle," they reported she said, as if a child's life could be so callously dismissed.

The manner of the crime only amplifies the horror of the situation. Officials paint a gut-wrenching picture: the woman, taking advantage of the vulnerability of sleep, snuffed out the life of the minor by strangling him. As if this wasn't dreadful enough, she coldly concealed the lifeless body of the young boy within the confines of their bed's storage box. Like an afterthought, she left behind the scene of her vile act, making her escape.

The shockwaves of this tragedy were felt earlier, on the 10th of August, when Delhi Police were alerted by BLK Hospital about a deeply disturbing discovery. A life, brimming with potential, was cut short. The young boy was brought dead to the hospital, with cruel marks of strangulation on his neck, bearing silent testimony to the horrific way he met his end. Reacting promptly, the Delhi Police stated, "On 10/08/2023, a minor male child, aged 11 years, was brutally murdered by strangulation, and his dead body was found concealed inside a bed." They went on to register an FIR under section 302 IPC at Police Station Inderpuri.

A vast web of surveillance had to be untangled to zero in on the prime suspect. During their diligent investigation, law enforcement officers sifted through footage from numerous CCTV cameras installed throughout the locality. The chilling recordings presented a horrifying revelation. The last known individual to set foot inside the ill-fated boy's residence was none other than Pooja Kumari, thereby cementing her involvement in the act.

Highlighting the determination and lengths the police went to in their pursuit of justice, Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Singh Yadav, pointed out the meticulous analysis of over 300 CCTV footages that eventually led them to arrest the perpetrator.

The grim tale of a boy's life being ruthlessly taken away by Pooja Kumari has more layers than what first met the eye, layers filled with resentment, jealousy, and betrayal. Pooja's actions, which ended in the death of a minor, were rooted in a complex history that combined her personal grievances and feelings of abandonment.

As the crime branch dove deeper into the investigation, they painted a picture of Pooja as a cunning and elusive criminal. Despite being on the run, she showed a remarkable aptitude for evading the long arm of the law. In a continuous game of cat and mouse, she frequently shifted her hiding spots, eluding the police in their attempts to track her down. But eventually, her luck ran out. Acting on pinpoint intelligence, the authorities zeroed in on her location at Bakkarwala. Once cornered, perhaps faced with the overwhelming weight of her actions, Pooja broke. She confessed, acknowledging the horrifying act she had committed, the police recounted.

Digging into the background of Pooja Kumari and Jitender, the boy's father, a tumultuous past comes to light. They had taken vows in an Arya Samaj temple on the 17th of October 2019. Yet, a cloud hung over their union. A legal marriage eluded them, for Jitender was still bound by the chains of his previous marriage. As officials narrate, he reassured Pooja that once he was free from the clutches of his former relationship, they would seal their bond in court. This promise set them on a path of domesticity as they rented a home and tried to carve out a life together.

However, not all was rosy. Their house often echoed with the sounds of heated debates, the core issue being Jitender's unresolved marital status. This persistent tension reached a boiling point, and Jitender made a decisive move. He left the shared abode and went back to his wife, leaving behind a seething Pooja. His exit, which happened in December of the previous year, ignited a fire of anger and jealousy within her. Commissioner Yadav shed light on Pooja's state of mind. She wrongfully assumed that the young boy, Divyansh, was the primary reason behind Jitender's departure.

That fateful Thursday, on 10th August, this twisted jealousy culminated in a horrifying act. Pooja enlisted the help of a friend to take her to Jitender’s residence. With an open door serving as an ominous invitation, she entered only to find Divyansh asleep. Consumed by irrational rage, she took the life of the innocent boy. But the horror didn't end there. In a macabre display of cold-bloodedness, she cleared the storage space within their bed and concealed Divyansh's lifeless form within, leaving behind a scene that would haunt the city's consciousness for years to come.
