In the Mamta Bisht murder case in Haldwani, the police arrested the accused Mohammad Ashraf. The accused had worked on making grills in the policeman's house about two years ago and had gathered complete information about the house. The accused entered the house on the pretext of drinking water and then stabbed Mamta Bisht, wife of constable Shankar Bisht, to death with a hammer from behind.

Constable Shankar Bisht posted in Banna Kheda post of Udham Singh Nagar has a house in Kalika Colony of Mukhani, Haldwani. When the children returned home from school on November 3, they started crying after seeing blood inside the house. When neighbors reached there after hearing the screams of the children, Mamta Bisht, wife of constable Shankar Bisht, was lying covered in blood and was hit on the head with a sharp weapon.

There was a stir due to the massacre in Haldwani in broad daylight. The police reached the spot and took possession of the body. All the belongings of the house were scattered and many valuables were missing. There was a lot of pressure on the police regarding the disclosure of the case. Police and SOG teams were involved in the investigation for the disclosure of the matter. Disclosing this, DIG Kumaon Nilesh Anand Bhare said that Mohammed Ashraf, an accused in the Mamta Bisht murder case, has been arrested from Ward No-11, Kichha, Udham Singh Nagar, near Nai Basti Noori Masjid.

Worked at home two years ago

During police interrogation, it came to light that accused Mohammad Ashraf had done the work of making a grill at the house of constable Shankar Bisht about two years ago. He knew that his wife lived alone in the house and would allow him to enter the house because of his recognition. Being in debt, he planned a robbery and entered the house with a hammer in his pocket. The accused entered the house on the pretext of taking a photo of the grill and drinking water at another place and then stabbed Mamta Bisht to death from behind. After this, the accused stole gold jewelry kept in the house, after which he fled.

The murder has been carried out in the residential colony. People have luxurious houses in this colony. But there is no CCTV camera anywhere.

Kamla Suyal, a neighboring woman who lives on rent, says that the scream was heard at 11 o'clock. The police is assuming that the incident must have happened in the meantime. When the children arrived at 2.30 pm, the body was found in the room. This means that the blood-soaked body was lying in the room for three and a half hours and the killers easily escaped after carrying out the crime. Neither the neighbors knew nor the police.

  • At 11:00 pm the neighbor heard the screaming.
  • The laborers working nearby were not seen at 11:30 pm.
  • At 2:30 pm, the children of the deceased Kapil and Riya reached home.
  • Kapil went to Mukhani police station at 2:50 pm.
  • At 3:00 pm, Riya called her father and informed him.
  • Police officers started arriving at 3:10 pm.
  • At 4:00 pm, the neighbors were questioned and the soldier's statement was recorded.
  • The body of the woman was brought to the mortuary at 4:15 pm.
  • By 5:00 pm, the police teams had left for the arrest of the accused.

Name and details of accused- accused Mr. Ashraf alias Bhura son Abdul Navi resident 88 Suneri, Ward no. 15 Kichha Udham Singh Nagar Hall resident of New Basti Kichha Udham Singh Nagar age 39 years.
