Jodhpur: Beauty Salon Owner Chopped Into Pieces and Buried in a Deep Pit, Police Search for Accused Gul Mohammad

A horrifying and distressing crime has emerged from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, where the dismembered body of a 50-year-old beauty salon owner, Anita Choudhary, was discovered. She had been reported missing by her husband, Manmohan Choudhary, on October 27 at the Sardarpura police station. Anita’s remains, "divided into six pieces and wrapped in plastic bags," were buried in a deep pit near the home of the main suspect, Mohammad Gulamuddin Farooqi, whom the authorities are urgently trying to locate.

On October 28, Anita Choudhary closed her beauty parlour in the afternoon and vanished without a trace, sparking immediate concern. Her husband grew worried when she did not return home that evening. The following day, he lodged a missing person complaint at the local police station. The initial stages of the investigation revealed alarming details, pointing towards a chilling sequence of events.

The primary suspect, identified as "Mohammad Gulamuddin Farooqi alias Gul Mohammad," is reported to have operated a shop in the same building as Anita’s salon. Their acquaintance was established over time, and the police turned their attention to him after analyzing call details from Anita’s phone. These records provided crucial insights into the connection between the victim and Gul Mohammad, painting a grim picture of a possible motive or premeditated plan.

Sardarpura police station officer Dilip Singh Rathore disclosed more about Anita's last known movements. "Anita had left the place in an auto," he stated, before she was reported missing. The police traced the auto driver who transported her that day, and his testimony added a significant piece to the puzzle. The driver confirmed that he had taken Anita to Gangana, which happens to be the area where Gul Mohammad resides. This crucial information has intensified the search for the accused, who remains at large.

The police said that with all the available inputs, a probe has been launched, uncovering more shocking details of the case. The investigation revealed that on the day Anita Choudhary disappeared, she had boarded a taxi. The taxi driver was promptly brought in for questioning, and his statement provided a crucial lead. He disclosed, “The taxi driver was immediately called for questioning. He stated that he had dropped the woman near a house in the Gangana area, which belonged to a man named Gulamuddin, who runs a sewing shop near Chaudhary’s beauty parlour.”

Following this lead, the police quickly moved to locate the house mentioned by the driver. But when officers arrived, Gulamuddin, also known as Gul Mohammad, was nowhere to be found. This raised suspicions and intensified the urgency of the search, prompting law enforcement to delve deeper into the case.

The investigation made a critical advancement when data from Anita’s mobile phone led the authorities directly to Gul Mohammad. With this new evidence in hand, the police arrived in Gangana, determined to find more answers. There, they located Gul Mohammad’s house and prepared for a detailed search. However, upon arrival, the officers encountered initial resistance.

Gul Mohammad’s wife was present at the home, and she obstructed the search efforts. Nevertheless, the police persisted, aware that this resistance could mean the house held vital clues. The wife attempted to explain her absence, stating she had been at her sister's house for the past three days. But as the police pressed on with intense questioning, she eventually broke down. After hours of grilling, she confessed, admitting a shocking truth: “her husband had indeed murdered Anita and buried her remains in the backyard.”

"When she returned to her home, her husband told her that Anita had been killed and her body was buried behind the house. Police got a bulldozer and dug up a 12-foot pit during which the torso, hands and legs of the woman's body were found wrapped separately in two plastic bags," said Officer Rathore, recounting the grim discovery. This revelation marked a horrifying escalation in the case that has left the entire community in shock.

The excavation, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Nishant Bhardwaj, brought to light the brutal end Anita Choudhary met. The police, aided by a JCB machine, dug deep into a 12-foot pit, a chilling testament to the length to which the perpetrator went to cover up the crime. The sight of Anita’s body, mutilated and wrapped in plastic, served as a stark reminder of the cruel fate she endured.

Anita Choudhary, who ran a beauty parlor in Agarwal Tower on Sardarpura B Road, had built a modest but successful business in the same building where Gul Mohammad managed his sewing shop. It was this proximity that facilitated their acquaintance. On October 28, CCTV footage captured Anita leaving her parlor, which was the last time she was seen alive. She never made it home, and her sudden disappearance prompted her husband to file a missing person report at the police station.

The investigation took several turns, with significant evidence coming from an auto driver who was identified in the CCTV footage. The driver admitted that he had transported Anita to Gangana village. Sadly, this location turned out to be where she would meet her untimely death.

Anita’s son has alleged that Gul Mohammad manipulated and deceived his mother, leading to her brutal murder. "The accused killed her mother after he deceived her," he stated, voicing the family’s anguish and desire for justice. The victim's remains were sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for a thorough post-mortem examination, which would provide further insights into the exact circumstances of her death.

The deceased’s son voiced his pain and disbelief, revealing a shocking possibility about the betrayal. He claimed that after Gulamuddin gained his mother's trust, “Gulamuddin and his family members might have called her to their home and killed her.” The anguish in his words was palpable, especially since the family’s history with Gulamuddin spanned several decades. The son explained how his mother, Anita, had a deep bond with the accused, and she considered him as a brother.

The case has grown more complex, and further investigations are in full swing to piece together every aspect of this gruesome act. The police are conducting intensive search operations across Jodhpur, leaving no stone unturned in their hunt for Gul Mohammad. Evidence collected so far suggests that the murder was premeditated. Authorities have discovered that the suspect had already prepared a pit near his house before the crime occurred, a grim indication of how calculated the act was. This detail emerged in the wake of Anita's son’s accusations, pointing to the betrayal and subsequent killing of his mother.

Law enforcement officials are deploying all available resources, including city-wide raids and extensive sweeps, to track down Gul Mohammad. As they press on, every bit of information matters, and Gul Mohammad’s wife, now in police custody, has provided valuable leads that are driving the investigation forward. Her statements have been instrumental in unraveling more pieces of this disturbing puzzle.

Body Found in Pieces Using Grinder

Gulamuddin's relatives, when questioned further, revealed that the woman had been murdered and her body buried in a 10-foot-deep pit in front of the house. Officials described the horrific nature of the crime, noting that the woman's throat, both hands, and both legs had been severed. “The precision of the cuts suggests that her body was dismembered using a grinder,” an official stated, adding that Gulamuddin’s wife has been taken into custody.
